    1. Hey gang....Not sure if I've shown this or not on here. This was acquired last summer. Love these "big blades"!! Although used for parade purposes - I'd hate to be on the receiving end of this puppy! 1/4 inch thick is serious business! Here are some pics! Rob
    2. Great mini-series! The fact that this repro comes from that program makes it all the more interesting! Nice .... Rob
    3. Hi! Angolia believes that the order for the buckle swastikas was first sunwheel, then horizontal and finally the rotated swastikas. The sunwheel swastika was first illustrated in RZM publications as late as June '34. That said - many of these buckles pre-date RZM so it's safe to say that these were around long before 1934. In the Nash book, he also has the sunwheel swastika as making the first SA buckle appearance. He dates the buckle from 1923 - quoting number 6267 from the Steinhauer and Luck catalogue. Hope that helps. Rob
    4. Hey....Great buckles. My fave is the Hessen! I still have yet to acquire one of those! Love the Saxon variant.....looks to be smaller than the regular 45mm buckles......is yours the 40mm variant? Awesome stuff! Thanks for showing! Rob
    5. Yup....no worries there.....it's an original piece. Rob
    6. Some collectors believe that it was also used to help keep the belt from sliding around the tunic - especially with ammo pouches attached. These leather tabs were discontinued in '42.....If you happen to see any dated '43 - '45, then those are reproductions! Hope that helps. Rob
    7. Hello....sorry for the late reply.....I don't think this buckle is a legit example. It might have been a real box (SA?) and had a Heer roundel applied to it later. I have not seen these types of buckles before in my "travels". It doesn't give me a good feeling inside. Rob
    8. Sorry for the late reply.....The top right hand side buckle (SA) is a reproduction and I'm pretty sure the army is a repro as well. The other SA - still on the fence. My concern with that one is the belt hook - but there were a lot of different SA buckle makers including smaller cottage type industries. The HJ buckle is a late war model and it's good as is the fireman's buckle. Hope that is what you were looking for! Cheers! Rob
    9. WOW....very nice buckle! Congrats! I like it - great patina on it too! Rob
    10. Thank you....Yes, it is in good condition. When compared to my 155/40 SS - it's a world apart! Rob
    11. ....forgot to mention that the belt is also period shortened...
    12. Hey guys.....haven't posted in a while....sorry 'bout that. Here's my newest acquisition (along with an HJ belt and buckle). This is a '44/'45 made Overhoff SS buckle. Came with a belt that has "supposedly" always been with the buckle. It's not SS marked though - but it is a late war type belt so it could be. Just happy to have found this buckle to add to the collection! Cheers! Rob
    13. The belt might be good - but I also think that buckle is a reproduction. Any chance you can post some pics of the back without the belt ? Cheers! Rob
    14. WOW...what a great idea....I'll also give that a try...Have the scanner so we'll see what I can find. That pic of your blade looks wonderful! VERY cool! Thanks for the advice! Cheers boys! Rob
    15. Hey Brian! Thanks for the tip! I will turn them around for sure! I'll also have to get myself a black light and give that a try. I'd love to get it figured out .... looks like it was done with a "fat" instrument - the lines are quite thick. Glad you like it buddy .... yes, I too consider these priceless! These blades won't be going anywhere soon! Cheers! Rob
