Here's one I have never been able to figure out. Has anyone seen a similar example? What is the significance of the blackened oaks? This cross is slightly larger than the usual specimens one encounters. The cross is finished in that same shade of 'lemon yellow' seen on SA sport badges.
i seriously doubt they specifically made crosses especially for left-handed people. it's merely a term used to describe the catch. they prolly had a temporary worker putting those things on who wasn't paying too much attention. my cross certainly looks as if an intoxicated person added the gear on the back--look at the positioning of the hinge. a little bit off! haha
Hey, battery acid or beer pee works! And some Fererro Rocher foil for effect. Yup! Just make sure you use the right side. Seriously, this could develop into an interesting thread. But not official, hein?
One would think so, but the "propeller blade" has quite a bit of tension when on the cross and it DOES take some effort to detach it. Very firm, but yeah--if this cross got snagged on something you could lose the cross--same thing goes for a regular pinback tho. The icing on the cake was to find the patent mark on the catch!
Thanks bro! 1st piece I've seen in a few years that I didn't already have or have seen. Definitely belongs in the variant category, no? I'm interested to see what people will say about it. As soon as I can figure out how to resize pics to 65K I should be able to edit and provide better pics os the solder on the catch, etc. but it looks pretty darn period to me.
