    1. And we have a new winner on the VE Day !!! It is indeed the Victory Tribune on the former Siegesallee. And it was later replaced by the Sowjetisches Ehrenmal in Tiergarten (Soviet War Memorial). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_War_Me...28Tiergarten%29 Here is an other pictures from the tribune from the book "Berlin then and now" from Tony le Tissier.
    2. My questions : #1 What is this? #2 Where was this located? (Please name the city and the exact place) #3 When was this build and what later replaced this thing? #4 What was special with this place throughout the Cold War?

    4. Hehe, I know the exact answer. 1. Whose office is this (or was this) ? Erich Honecker's office 2. Where is (was) this office ? City : Berlin Building : "Palast der Republik" which is being destroyed right now. 3. What is (was) the color of the carpet ? The carpet was orange and not "Schwarz, Rot, Gold" as you already told me.

    20. Thank you guys! I appreciate modest groupings that were awarded to simple soldiers like Olefirenko. Too bad the documents were not available with that group and that the Victory over Germany medal is not available as well. Nowhere it is mentioned that he obtained the Berlin and Warsaw medal, but I'm 100% sure they belong together. I like the plastic covers as well.
    21. Hi Christian, Many thanks for your comments. The group is indeed really nice with the uncracked ribbon plastic protectors. In regard to your question, I have no idea. it is just written that he is "Analphabet", so I can't comment more than that. I presume he was not to school or he was to school, but still cannot read. He was enlisted at 35 years old and was a farmer. I guess it was just propaganda to say that the whole Soviet Union knew how to read. There are still illeterate people in Canada and Austria even with our school system. So I don't think there is a big deal with that soldier that was illiterate.
