There are plenty of books about Soviet period architecture. Too bad I spent much money on medals and not enough on books! I am very much interested in Communist architecture and I also have lot to learn. -

Andreas won this round! It was the world biggest Stalin monument ever made and wasunveiled by Czechoslovakia's Communist regime on May 1, 1955. The monument only stand there for 7 years. Too heavy to be displaced, it was blown to pieces. Here is an article of interest : http://www.radio.cz/en/article/66095 -

Here is my new train plaque in my collection. It is a very nice piece and bigger than my other one showed earlier. I'm very satisfied for what it is and for the price I paid for it.

Soviet Order of the Red Star - 6 digits
Bryan posted a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I have 2 Orders of the Red Star in the 6 digits range. My lowest is much thinner than the highest one. The highest number as the same construction as 7 digits Orders of the Red Star. Is there kind of a number range where they stopped to make the thinner Order of the Red Star? #1 Order of the Red Star #380504 #2 Order of the Red Star #733879 -

Soviet Red Banner Questions...
Bryan replied to Stogieman's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
These were identified as fakes on an other forum. In the the orderbook only the first two entries are original. And the s/n range from the "3" would've had a mint mark in two lines, and the "4" a large curved down mint mark. -

It seems that you can go to the mint and ask them to make you an order if you pay for it. I do not know if they have evidence for that. I'm not a very knowledgeable collector. I'm only collecting Soviet medals and orders since 2 years. I just rely myself to what some "experts" are saying and I try to put my own conclusions out of them.

Rough translation : Below represented model with this error on the reverse, it is not possible to consider as collection piece, since they were stamped into 1993, at the Moscow mint by a private individual in a number of copies. Error was produced randomly, without any preliminary design. Nobody was ever rewarded this medal. Special distinction: not sealed joint ring; the complete absence of oxidation trace.
