    1. Here is the River Benue Star (for gallantry), and it's the 3rd highest Nigeria award for gallantry. Reverse is blank. Emmanuel
    2. Here is the River Niger Star for bravery (2nd highest Nigeria gallantry award). Reverse is blank. Emmanuel
    3. For the Order of the Niger 2nd Type, it again seems there is version with post nominal letters on motto (like here the commander & the officer badge : C.O.N. & O.O.N. respectively),and version without (the member badge). Same for the reverse, the Officer's badge bear the word : NIGERIA on its back. That one was awarded to : Lt-Colonel Blair Stewart Wilson in 1989. Anyway not so easy to get, espceially with document. Emmanuel
    4. For Order of the Niger, I just own 1 badge of the lowest class of the first type. Often this Order (M.O.N.) : Member of the Order of the Niger is confused by collectors & dealers with a medal, but it's an Order. Emmanuel
    5. It seems there is some variation in the enameled version (some sources refer to post 1977 for enameled breast star & badges). But it seems Megan has show us 2 version of the breast star of the Order of the Federal Republic, one with G.C.F.R. on the motto (Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic), and one without. This information is very interesting What I can show is that there was low calss that were manufactured very differently (see last picture of reverse of both badge of the 4th class). The one with the tiny red stripe in center is for the military division. Emmanuel
    6. Hello gentlemen, there is enormous lacks of datas concerning the first insignias of the Orders of Nigeria. But here are mine, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (O.F.R.) first type & Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (M.F.R.) first type. Emmanuel
    7. Hello Paul & Owain, This is how it shall look like when hung from its ribbon. Owain knows more than I the historical background, but this medal is among the official awards of the UAE (picture from their military awards book). Regards. Emmanuel

      Lesotho

Hello to all, even if the award document is for Order of Mohlomi, the neck badge is : Most Courteous Order of Lesotho (with post 1987 ribbon). Usually quote press pictures is not risk free. I remember a web site that was refering to General Tommy Franks being awarded the Order of Great Star of Djibouti, but actually he was awarded Commender of Orderof 27 June. Keep in mind that journalist understand approximatively close to 0 when it's about phaleristic. Emmanuel
    9. There was a medal to be issued for Gulf War 1990-91, but according to source in Seoul, this medal was minted (maybe in extremely low serie), but was never awarded as a medal. However the ribbon is worn on ribbon bar for those soldier who took part to Gulf War 1990-91. Emmanuel
    10. Hello Antonio, This is the R.O.K. Peacekeeping Medal. Its diameter is 34 millimeters ann almost 3 millimeters thick. It's made of gilded allow, but very nice modern striking medal. Emmanuel
    11. Hello Gentlemen, This is a medal I own since long time. I just got an accurate translation and explanation of the context of this medal recently (thanks Dave). The obverse reads : "Martyred Youth Medal" The reverse reads : "Comrades who lost their life for the Nation through Youth Movement" and the date 11 October 1963. On bottom reverse : "Patriotic Youth Association" It is believed that the Youth Movement was probably opposed to Park Chung Hee's Military Coup and the students who dies where those who demonstrated against the third republic of Korea. Again, thanks Dave for the translation. Maybe Don would add some comment, he's most welcome. Emmanuel
    12. Hello Gentlemen, I was recently in Korea (second visit there),and of cours eI went to Korean War Mémorial. This time I took a picture of a medal unknown to me (but extremely well manufactured). A fellow collector told me that during the korean war, some partisan units manufactured their own award. Or shortly after the end of the war, chinese anti-communist partisan that were not part of the Army of South Korea (but fought alongside them) had no the idea to issued their own awards. I lack knowledge in this specific field. It's not a State Award, but it's beautifull, and it deserve someone who know more to reply this post. Maybe Don would comment this post, he's most welcome to correct the mistake I could have written. Emmanuel
    13. Hello Gentlemen, I had wished to visit Ulaan Bataar for long time, and after seeing the post left by Ed with the fantastic pictures on the Military Museum in 2008, I definitely knew I had to go. I have been for a conference to Seoul in late may, so to take Korean Airways to Ulaan Bataar is not that far (3 hours). Landing there is not easy....there is a lot of tail winds that forbid landing sometimes for hours. But they now have a very good modern hotel with fantastic view on Sukhe Batar Square. Ed had made a fantastic post, so I will I post here some medals that I believe are to be issued to Mongolia Troops in Duty in Iraq, in Afghanistan and in Africa . I guess they were not on display when Ed visited the museum in 2008. On the picture with the 3 medals together, the third word of the first line is NATO in cyrillic. So I guess these are the official issued medal for multinational operation. Any comment is most welcome. Emmanuel

      Zambia

Hello Gentlemen, I was recently able to purchase this Zambia Army Meritorious Service Medal. It's painted flag in center (not enamel), but suspension swivel, and it's relatively heavy (50 grammes with ribbon and suspension device). Years ago I miss a lot of Zambia Medals in an auction in London. Among this lot was an earlier version of the Meritorious Service Medal (with enamel flag) and a different ribbon. All constructive comment are welcome. Emmanuel
    15. Let's end by Johor. From left to right : Sultan Ibrahim Diamond Jubilee Medal 1895-1955 Sultan Ibrahim Memorial Medal (he passed away in 1959 after 64 years of reign). This is NOT an official medal, but it has its place here. Ribbon is not known (I just choose to put a bleu/white ribbon which are the Johor colours). Sultan Ismael Installation Medal 1960 I would need the real picture of the Sultan Mahmud installation 1982 (I think the one that is oftenly shown is not the Installation Medal, but the Yang di Pertuan Agong Installation of the Sultan of Johor). I would need also a picture of the Sultan Ibrahim Ismail Installation Medal 2010. Best regards. Emmanuel
    16. Ok, now Terengganu From left to right : Silver Jubilee of Sultan Ismail in 1970 . You can see medal both in silver & bronze (I guess it exist also in bronze) Sultan Mahmud Installation Medal in 1981 (he succeded his father in 1979). You can see medal both in silver & bronze (I guess it exist also in gold) Sultan Mizal Installation 1999 (he succeded his father in 1998). I got a gold medal (actually it's silver gilt, not gold, but it may exist in real gold too). The striking is very good. Emmanuel
    17. Ok, now the State of Pahang From left to right : Silver Jubilee of Sultan Abu Bakar of Pahang 1932-1957 (in silver gilt). Ribbon show a little stain, but a very rare medal to get. Sultan Ahmad Shah Installation Medal 1975 (he succeded his father in 1974). This medal also exist in bronze. Sultan Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Medal 1974-1999 (it's the onliest for which I only own a miniature,sorry....,according to charts, the ribbon is similar to Installation medal, but the black stripe is at left & the white stripe is a right) Sultan Ahmad Shah 80th Birthday Celebration Medal in year 2010. Emmanuel
    18. And now Selangor From left to right : Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Installation Medal 1961 (I confess it's a cast one, but I bought it such a way) Sultan Salahuddin Abdulz Aziz Shah Silver Jubilee Medal 1985 (this medal also exist in bronze & gilt, and maybe a few in real gold) Sultan Sharafuddin Idriss Shah installation Medal 2003 (as you can see this medal exist in silver & gilt, and I guess also in bronze) Emmanuel
    19. Perlis is the smallest State of the Federation of Malaysia, but also got its Installation & Jubilee Medal. The first (with yellow & 2 wide dark green stripes in center) is Golden Jubilee Medal of Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail in 1995 The 2nd (with yellow ribbon with tiny central flashy green stripes & 2 very small side bleu stripes) is his son Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Installation Medal in 2001 The 3rd one (with flashy green central stripe and bleu & yellow stripes) is 10 Years of Reign Medal in 2011. Emmanuel
    20. This is the Negeri Sembilan Installation Medal of 2009 of Tuanku Muhriz. It's the lowest ranking one (bronze striking), but I saw it silver....so i guess for Royal Guest it may also have been struck in gilt, or real gold. Emmanuel
    21. Here the State of Perak , the bronze medal is the Installation of Sultan Azlan Shah in 1985 (but this medal exist in 3 classes, bronze, silver & gold....maybe real gold for royal families of Malaysian States Members). See picture taken in Kuala Kangsar Museum in my visit there in 2004 The last medal is the Perak Silver Jubilee Medal of 2009 (maybe this medal also exist in 3 classes) Emmanuel
    22. You asked for a picture of the Kelantan Silver Jubilee Medal of 2004. But to make topic, more easy to understand, I will list from left to right : Silver Jubilee Medal of Sultan Ismail Petra 2004 (ribbon dark bleu with central white stripe), Installation Medal of Sultan Ismail Petra 1980 Installation Medal Sultan Yahya Petra 1961 Installation Medal of Sultan Muhammad V in 2010 (ribbon white with red stripes). The 3 first were struck in real silver, the Installation Medal of 2010 is silvered metal. Emmanuel
    23. Hello JDM, It's nice to make post, but it would be better if you add pictures ? Ok I will list some recent, and not so oftenly seen Malaysian States Installation & Jubilee Medal Let's begin by Kedah, the Silver Jubilee (in real silver) and the Gold Jubilee 2008 (in gilded metal, but striking well made for a modern piece). The Silver Jubilee of 1983 retain the same ribbon used for the Installation Medal in 1959 (he succeded the throne in 1958, but ceremony of installation took place in 1959) Emmanuel
    24. It seems there is a decoration called Order of Friendship (awarded in 2012 to Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz al Saud. Hard to see, but it seems to be a neck medal..... emmanuel
    25. Hello Gentlemen, the neck badge of Diplomatic Merit Order on emedals web site is a "Junk" ribbon, just put there because everybody knows it's easier to sell a decoration with a ribbon rather than a decoration without. If you want to know the full story, that commander badge now on emedals was in the drawer of a well known belgian delaer, then bought or barter with the owner of Galerie Numismatique, then emedals bought it....but the knowledge on Orders & Medals of the owner of Galerie Numismatique is as thick as a lettuce (he always need to ask about anything ....). The ribbon of the Order of Diplomatic Merit can be seen here, Don Pfifer is the authority in this topic : http://home.earthlink.net/~dfifer/index.htm Since its creation in the late 50ies, the Diplomatic Merit Order has known 2 main shape of insignia (with minor variation Inside these shapes), almost all the others Order of South Korea have known 3 shapes of insignias (again with minor variation). The main colour of ribbons of the second type of insignias of Diplomatic Merit Order is pink. I have to add that all Medals & Orders shown here (on this thread about South Korea) have their correct ribbon (except the neck badge of the Diplomatic Merit Order shown on the web site of emedals). Below you can see a pictures of ribbons that can be worn by military mens & officers of the army of South Korea (incl some foreign awards, like the Saudi Gulf War Commemorative 1991, and some of South Vietnam). Regards. Emmanuel
