Thanks Alot Gents. It is a boring label but adds alot of provenance to the sign. An interesting peice I think. Thank you for the help in translating. I'm much more happier about owning the peice now. Before it was just a painted peice of wood..... of course I guess it still is, HAHAHAHAHA - Jesse

Identification of Collar tab
Jesse replied to Jesse's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
Sorry about the size, this was as big as I'm allowed to make the photos. I think its a high definition shot though. If you can enlage it some how it may show something. Thanks for the questions and interest, Merry Christmas - Jesse -
Identification of Collar tab

These are as close as I could get with the focus. Always tough to evaluate these with out them in your hands. There are two holes in the center also if it this means anything at all. -
Kriegsmarine Torpedo propeller

On the flanges, there are stamped numers "1,2,3 - no 4,5 and 6" in a serif font. In the base of one of these "dug outs" there is also "3321" stamped; maybe a casting number? Another dug-out base has what looks to be a 1 or upside down "T". The 4 grooves inside the shaft housing are also numbered "1" through "4" along the rim in a much smaller font. Its a liitle tough to make out on the photos. Would waffenamts be used on something like this? Thanks for the questions - always interesting to go through it all. - Jesse -

Heer LSSAH Sign

An interesting hand painted sign. Not any type of standardized, factory made sign. None the less I like it alot. The back of the sign has a label from the Kharkov Historical Museum where the sign supposably came from. -
Sorry, here is a photo of the sign. The sign supposably came from a Russian Museum. The label on the back is what was originaly posted. I've gotten as far as this in translation : харзковски истооич. музе сектор учета. вов инв фамистск.лорожн.указатетв инвонтарн харзковски истооич. To a muse sector of the account. вов инв фамистск.лорожн.указатетв инвонтарн Thank You for any feed back - Jesse

This label is on the back of a road sign for the German Army. It came from a museum in Russia. I can't even come close to translating it because of the lettering. Does anyone have any suggestions on a web site that may have the Russian equavilant to English letters or someone that may be able to read Russian ? Thank you - Jesse

And U-558's "Old Wooden Eye" - in refrence to keeping look out on the conning tower and staying alert. Obviously a tedious and difficult duty being exposed to the elements during the 4 hr. shifts. This is what it all amounted too I think. Spoting a threat and submerging within 30 seconds or spotting targets. "Sei wach holzauge" = tranlated means "wood eye is awake"
