It looks like Carl Servaes went into military intelligence in WW2, made Oberst (1.1.1942) and "Leiter der Abwehrstelle Brüssel". He was close to Canaris.

Hptm "Servais", who got the HHOX around June/July 1917, is a puzzling case. In the ERL, there are only two officers "Servais", both made only Lt, one of them (Albert from FußAR 16) was KIA in 1916. He cannot have been reserve, since there was no reserve officer Servais in the 1914 RLs. The only other option is that this is a typo: The name is "Servaes". There are two Servaes in the ERL: - Oberst aD Heinrich Servaes, who got the HHOX in September 1917 as OTL, originally from FußAR 3. Not him. - The 1914 Olt Servaes from UR 7, served in Generalstab 17. LD. He is listed as Rittmeister aD, not Hauptmann - but still, he is the only candidate. Maybe he served with infantry during the war and got the cavalry rank after the war. Also, he had a Knights Cross of the Portuguese Order of Saint Benedict d'Aviz. I don't find his first name, maybe Glenn has it. He is not in VL, neither as Servais or Servaes.

The Lt dR Schildert (rare name) from 6. GFAR must be Walter Erich Max Schildert. He was Apotheker. Born 1.4.1896 in Berlin, died 25.10.1930 in Berlin (acc. to VL and ancestry). VL have him as a regular Lt, which must be an error, since there is no Schildert in ERL.

Lt dR Scherre (rare name) from IR 467 should be Karl Scherre, originally from RIR 71, born 20.5.1894 in Leubingen/Eckartsberga.

Lt dR Rux from RIR 76 should be Alfred Rux, born 28.3.1897 in Hamburg. He is listed as a regular Lt in VL Jan 1919, missing. The VL July 1918 has him as a reserve officer, however. I find no trace of him after WW1.

Ah! Lived in Potsdam in 1934 as Hauptmann aD.

Hauptmann Rubach is the 1914 Lt in Uffz-Vorschule Sigmaringen, from IR 46. Just couldn't find his first name. Only one Rubach in ERL.

First name: Hptm Adolf Rinn, from IR 85 and IR 14, born 17.7.XX in Hamburg, KIA 2.8.1918. There was only one regular Rinn in ERL.

About Lt dR Delbrück from IR 396: The name is relatively rare, it looks like they all belong to one influential Prussian family (most famous of course, the later Nobel Prize winner Max). Going by VL, there are a number of dR officers Delbrück here, but only two of them would fit, given the rank, branch and the time of award: 1) Hermann Hugo Heinrich Delbrück, born 5.8.1893 in Berlin. Kaufmann, "Großvertreter für Pflanzenschutzmittel" 1940 in Rostock. Died 7.8.1980 in Wolfenbüttel (acc. to myheritage). 2) Wolfgang Gerhard Felix Delbrück, born 1.6.1893 in Halle/S. 1915 in RIR 207. Bankdirektor in Düren, back in WW2 as Major dR. Died 25.12.1984 in Düren (acc. to myheritage).

Hptm dR Deloch from FAR 108 is Hans Deloch from Karchwitz/Kosel. In VL (wounded Nov 1917) as a regular Hptm, but that must be an error. There was no regular officer Deloch in ERL. There were two other 1914 Lts dR in FAR 42 (also from Cosel) and FAR 20, but I don't think that they could have been promoted to Hptm by June 1917.

Very interesting. Of course, Klein is not exactly an uncommon name, even if you limit yourself to only one regiment. Still, I had a look into VL and found - no officer Klein from FR 33. However, there was one candidate who might fit: Wilhelm Klein, from Landsberg/Pr. Eylau, wounded in Nov 1914 as Vizefw dR. Any chance that he was promoted?

For the Lt dR Jenewein from IR 76, who got the HHOX around Oct 1917, I find these four candidates, going by VL: Fritz, IR 180, born 23.5.1887 in Vinningen Grigo, born 26.7.XX in Neunkirchen, listed as KIA in May 1918 Ludwig, born 16.5.XX in Peine/Hannover, listed as KIA in Nov 1917 Walter, born 5.12.XX in Hückeswagen/Lennep Is there any connection known for one of them to IR 76?

The Major aD "von Jarotzki" from IR 45 is Georg von Jarotzky. In ERL under aD officers, in LdstIR 4, originally from IR 45. In VL Sep 1918 as wounded, born 10.6.XX in Görlitz.

Hptm dR Jancovius (very rare name) is Leopold Jancovius, originally from FAR 6. Rittergutsbesitzer in Nieder Schellendorf, Liegnitz, listed in the Schlesisches Güter-Adreßbuch 1937.

The Lt Jaegerhuber is Friedrich Jaegerhuber from IR 97, Olt aD after WW1, acc. to VL born 2.2.1882 in Kirchbuch, lived in München as Major in the 1930s, then found 1939 in Ansbach as Arbeitsführer and RAD-Meldeamtsleiter. Rick mentioned him briefly years ago, when I found the RAD DALs: Not to be confused with Bavarian Hptm Friedrich Jaegerhuber from FlA 48, orig. Bayr. IR 18, born Reichenhall 1878, died in a crash in 1915.

Sounds to me like Leßmann got submitted but didn't receive it.

Here is another one: For the Major Jacobs who received the HHOX in mid 1918, there are basically two possibilities: 1) Friedrich Karl Rudolf Jacobs, from IR 357 (originally IR 64), born 17.6.1875 in Siernik Kreis Schubin, KIA as Major 21.10.1918. 2) Hptm Jacobs, in 1914 Adj. 21. InfBrig, Unif. IR 82, Major aD, couldn't find his first name

For the Major Hübner who got the HHOX in mid 1918, I mainly see these three possibilities: 1) most likely, in my view: 1914 Hptm in Kriegsschule Cassel, later Kdr RIR 83, ended the war as OTL aD. First name seems to be Hans. 2) Georg, in 1914 Hptm in IR 154. From "Ostrowy/Russland". 3) another 1914 Hptm, OTL aD, from FAR 71. Hptm dL Hülsz from RIR 272 is Louis Hülsz. In VL Oct 1915 as Olt dL, from Coburg. 1914 in Landwehrbezirk Berlin I. He was Ingenieur with the Glühlampenfabrik W.E. Jantzen and found in address books Berlin as Dipl.-Ing. in the 1920s and 30s. In 1938, he is in Augsburg as Fabrikdirektor (at Wolfram), and found there until 1951 at least.

Lt dR Holzkämper is Rudolf Heinrich Wilhelm Holzkämper, in Stammrollen Bayern. 1916 versetzt zur FlgAbt 13. Born 2.7.1884 in Krentrupperhagen/Lippe.

The Lt dR Hellmich from IR 19 might be Philipp, from Bremen/Soest, acc. to VL.

Hptm Fessel from IR 150 is Kurt Fessel. Lived in Allenstein in 1932 as Major aD.
