Bitterberg is also mentioned as one of three teachers with HHOX in this postwar notice (Bielefelder General-Anzeiger, 9.12.1918). The other two are Waldemar John from Spenge (Matty had him already, https://www.kreisheimatverein.de/online-bibliothek/biografien-2/john/) and Christian Stellhorn from Gadderbaum, first name acc. to Adressbuch Bielefeld (Bethel, in Gadderbaum). He is found at least until 1950.

Here is a 1937 article about the change of Kommandeur in Wehrbezirk Bochum. Both are mentioned as having the HHOX. The new one is OTL (E) Ernst Blümel, we have him. The old one, who is leaving for Wehrersatzinspektion Dortmund, is a Major (E) Meyer, born around 1889, formerly from IR 23. I don't find his first name. Bochumer Anzeiger, 24.3.1937 Meyer has an interesting ribbon bar as well, see the close-up. UPDATE: According to ERL, it is either Fritz or Konrad Meyer The Adressbuch Dortmund 1938 lists a Major Fritz Meyer, probably him. So he might be the Hptm Fritz Meyer in our list. In the WH 1939 RL, it looks like he is the Leiter of Wehrmachtfürsorge- und Versorgungsamt Bielefeld, that's the only one who fits.
