    1. Silver?/or very low gold content material as usual. Not sure exactly what it is, but it is always something like it.
    2. I guess one would call that "Schlamperei", but it was awarded to a non German.... came with the set below and some not so important Hanoverian Grand Cross set : )
    3. Everybody being awarded the Black Eagle Order was automatically holder of the Red Eagle Order "en satur" (on neck, as the french would say). Check this one out, it came from one of those folks and was presented on a small neck ribbon in a smal case just for the cross - no star. Maybe you find the little oddity hidden in this particular cross.
    4. Funny, that those Korean have the same bold head, not that I don't have one, but at least standing 6'4"
    5. Wild Card, that is the one I am talking about....real gold center! Those are rather easy to evaluate. The other one is good, too, by the way. Bernd D, already said it.
    6. Well, as mentioned, before, there will eventually be a book about this topic, answering all questions. I would personally not buy any 1st class crosses without real golden center. The bavarians were very peculiar about the way order decorations were produced. Keep in mind it always was and still is the wealthiest state within Germany ; )
    7. I believe the 1st class crosses have to have a real golden center for the most part.
    8. Would it be not better to have first name and last name in two separate columns? This way you could sort each data block in Excel separately and could even transport it into Access easier?
    9. No worry, there will be a very comprehensive book on the Military Merit Order and crosses out very soon. The best book ever if you read or do not read German.
    10. Eric had shared some of his statistics with me several years ago, but having them all in book format is a real treat. I am very glad that I have had the pleasure to have met him on numerous occasions. like here at the 2004 SOS:
    11. Correct, there are know examples from the 1st and 2nd classes with and without swords with the exact same painting, also showing the "G" mark on the side of its cross arm. I unfortunately never bothered taking pictures, otherwise I would post one here.
    12. Your piece is a typical late war Glaser made piece. They did paint the medallions rather then going through the expensive process of making metal applications like Scharffenberg. Some folks claim this to be the rare 1st type, awarded up to 1912, but that is not true. Still a nice and fairly scarce knights badge.
    13. So the signature on the Iron Cross document actually fits, implying the material on the Huesken site is OK. The typewritter is identical in-between the tank document and the Iron Cross document!
