Eric THANKS for the pictures and from what you have said I do not think I have to worry about it being a reproduction. The flag arrived today - here are some detail shots I took. The paper tag reads "Fahnen-Kreisel Auftrag 12" The flag itself (not incl the metal frame is 15 1/4 inches long and 9 1/2 wide. Does your paper tag read the same? Additionally does yours have a stiched seem around the edge of the metal frame? Best Regards, John

Thanks, I hope to find additional information - The one I posted was from Hermann Historica and has the following discription. As for the one linked by GaryB I am the guy who bought it. My only concern is at least one person at another forum feels the size and metal attachments are incorrect... I am still a bit confused as I do not have any reference material to guide me.

All I can say is... -
Well my guess was correct - from the little information I have and the general design and finally the ring I think you just may have a jacket that was made from an early Winterfliegerkombi. On page 88 of Prodgers book on flight clothes he shows a very similar item except for the fact it is a full suit. I think maybe when they phased this out someone decided to take it to a tailor and have a jacket made from the top for those cold days. If I had a scanner I would post you a picture of the summer and winter versions and would would see what the similarities. BTW the ring was designed for to aid in the rapid removal of the flight suit to enable treatment of wounded flyers. Thoughts anyone? Regards John

Hi, I am no experten but if anything my guess is it would be a private purchase. Now the strange thing is that it looks very similar to the Winterfliegerkombi (at least the top half). As for the story well it is just that a story now way to know for sure as any collector will tell you. Now if he had a picture then that would be all the proof you need. You may want to research the BOB and scan pictures to see if you find any similar jackets. Additionally there are a few real experts here that maybe able to provide some insight - JOS et al. ? W0W! that PO so very very minty fresh - -
Thanks Jos I see it is plain paper with a tab or somehting which I assume sealed the the protective wrap. If I am not mistaken I have seen a corragated type as well. I would like to have a pair of those New Ebay type with the cardboard box to see first hand the quality and the differences fromthe realthing. Regards John

Thanks Jos, I posted this pair because I am starting to change my mind about the non-symetrical bridge being a good indicator of goggles being reproductions. When I return from the snow I hope Santa has beenkind enough to give me a pair so I can post them! I will also cross-post on the WA forums as well. Merry Christmas all! (edit) Jos do you have the paper liner to the metal container? If so can you post pictures of that as well?

Luftwaffe Luftwaffe or Heer

I still say Luftwaffe because I think the a Luft guy would used a Heer tunic because he did not have a tropical tunic vs. a Heer guy removing all but the tabs. Cheers JC -
