Some of these awards were also issued by Military/Veteran Associations. Here comes another piece from my collection. Dated from 1894. Issued by Miyagi Prefecture Noble Warriors Military Association. But I am not so sure that it`s connected with C-J war... Case

These are non-governmental awards issued by prefectures, towns and even villages to veterans of S-J war. Also there are commemorative jettons (sometimes in the form of medals - what made them practically indistinguishable from previous class) which could be bought by "fervent patriots".

Both medals bear inscription 征清紀念 on their reverses 征 - conqueror 清 - Qing 紀念 - in commemoration
