    1. Author of this creative bas-relief was this dude Valery Balabanov
    2. Nothing more ... So most likely formal approach was used.
    3. Well, I checked article 4 of St.Anna statute (1845). It is simply states that "On orders ... bestowed to non-Christians images of St.Anna and Cross are replaced with the image of Imperial Russian Eagle"
    4. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/60674-can-anyone-id-this-medal/
    5. Oleg! What is your opinion - japanese or chinese?
    6. Let`s hope our colleagues will be kind enough to translate inscriptions on the box lid and medal reverse
    7. Hmmm This one looks more like Chinese to me...
    8. You get that right! "Strange classes from strange time periods" ;)
    9. Looks like 6th class to me. Yes, NCO's got this award in lower classes. Higher grade of this order completely replaces the lower.
    10. Actually I don't think that it is impossible to determine (by this photo) what version of 2nd class St. Anna Mr. Lu is wearing... But I have serious doubts that Imperial Chapter cared much about actual faith of Mr. Lu
    11. Sacred treasure was a general award of course. Order class corresponds to your current rank and longevity of service. If you are General - 2nd class. If you are Lieutenant - 6th class.
    12. So many questions! "On sale in Canada" and (I guess) "Canada Specials" mean that the style of these photos is typical for one well known canadian dealer.
    13. Do you mean RF medal "for life saving" or this one http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CC%E5%E4%E0%EB%FC_%AB%C7%E0_%F1%EF%E0%F1%E5%ED%E8%E5_%F3%F2%EE%EF%E0%FE%F9%E8%F5%BB ?
    14. "All"?! It looks like Claudius really liked this bar
    15. Nope, it doesn't http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_orders,_decorations,_and_medals_of_the_Russian_Federation
    16. Hmmm This sacred treasure looks like it came from late 10s-early 20s ... P.S. I presume "on sale in Canada"
    17. Numbered medals by MMD have very peculiar problem with gold covering... I'll post a couple examples tomorrow
    18. Naa Not bravery, since it is not only an award for "for bravery, selflessness and personal courage in fighting for the protection of the Motherland and the public interests of the Russian Federation", but also an award "for distinction in military bearing during service, for alertness and active participation in exercises and manoeuvres, for excellent performance in combat training" So it is more like USSR Medal for Combat Service ;)
    19. No, it isn't. Correct "official" name for these will be Awards of the Permanent Bureau of the Congress of people's deputies of the USSR / Награды Постоянного Президиума Съезда народных депутатов СССР "Ulmalatovskiye" awards or simply "Ulmalatovky" is collectors slang.
    20. These unofficial awards can be bought together with blank docs and for extra money even with correctly filled docs with the name of buyer in it
    21. Now about how many 300th Anniversary medals were issued. On the eve of anniversary 160 000 medals were awarded. It toto approximately 500 000 were issued.
    22. Yes, it's not the price, but aesthetic and historical value behind this or that piece . Unfortunately thousands of unofficial RF medals lack both completely ...
