    1. By the way, another interesting feature of this 1st class set set from BM is that breast star "hallmarked with a swan". So we know that this breast star made a trip to France I wonder why badge is not hallmarked with the same mark
    2. Seriously?! Looks more like 16,25 mm to me Yep. Original ring should be soldered.
    3. We were talking about gild on breast star superimposed badge - not about gild on rays dear Richard ;)
    4. Looks like this breast star lost its original red enamel (at least in several places) and somebody decided to cover it with a lay of red lacquer (?) or was it cold enamel (?). Anyway, looks pretty terrible ...
    5. Seriously?! I'd say pretty sweet price But then again - not a first class set anymore, since it looks like badge and star were bought bybtwo different buyers ...
    6. Not enough 1st classes for all ...
    7. Yep. If I remember correctly 1st class badge has suspension ring with diameter (approximately of course) 16,5-17 mm and 3rd class badge has ring with diameter 10-10,5 mm. P.S. Sometimes I see 1st class sets with badges that have double ring construction of 3rd class. These are most likely artificially created sets
    8. One day to go and breast star $1655 < neck/sash badge $1840 Interesting inequality

    10. Interesting color of patina
    11. Two additional examples of Nakajima factory in Oda badge. Interesting that both came from six hundred (and one that we already have in this thread (post #117) has number 611 on its reverse). # 614 I bet that these badges were manufactured by Mint
    12. Reverse (any ideas about possible translation? )
    13. Just to cheer you up - another cavalier of pilot badge At least his badge is 100% original
    14. Well, what do you think about these badges chaps? P.S. Unfortunately not only these badges could be dubious, but also badges from posts #31-40 + badges with flat pin ... Cheers, Nick
    15. Now let`s return to this couple of badges from posts # 161-164. Both badges appeared on the YJ this summer. First badge was sold on YJ on June 19 Then on August 18 it appeared together with second badge (without pin) on other YJ auction where only badge without pin was sold. October 7 this badge without pin was sold on eBay.
    16. All these things make these badges look dubious ... But what about inscribed badge from post #187-189? Hmmm ...
    17. In addition to the boxes some of these badges have very fresh look (way too fresh!) + they have painted wreath (and sometimes not very carefully painted wreath ) ...
    18. Reverse (note how fat is the pin)
    19. Another badge and another such box
