    1. You see!? Controversies are everywhere ... Who are oppressing who and for how long Naaa They "didn't do it". Simply ask them No spa treatment? Cruel, cruel world Hopefully this quote will cheer you up “The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.” Karl Marx
    2. Actually this is a BIG question who oppressed "poor workers" more - "red star" or "czarist double eagle" But the idea to crossbreed them is indeed pure madness! Happy May Day Greg! P.S. Please say "hi" to all "oppressed" from the local joint
    3. By the way, even 2nd class Golden Grain this mysterious mancio_1990 "may not ship to Russian Federation". Phaleristic racism!
    4. Never-ending story: Part 4. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/56991-2nd-class-order-of-the-auspicious-clouds-complete-set/
    5. "High achiver"? "Exemplary"? "Distinguished"? Naaaa You look like a stout Сhamp!!!
    6. Why I am not surprised? http://sammler.ru/index.php?showtopic=121290&st=0 Hero of Capitalistic Labor P.S. By the way, first awardings were made today
    7. One amazing discovery after another The exploratory importance of this thread can scarcely be overestimated!
    8. Naaa EMS stands for Education Sales Management ... Those in education will know
    9. I am not sure about that dear Ferdinand The closest synonyms to distinguished will be remarkable, eminent, famous, renowned, celebrated, outstanding. The closest synonyms to excellent will be choice, first-class, first-rate, prime, select. Of course excellent grade will be translated as отличная оценка But distinguished is more like выдающийся...
    10. Yep, I heard about these know-all poor devils too!
    11. Yes, but all boxes and ribbons are missing. So after all it could be from "from one ex-vet's collection" Sounds mysterious
    12. But maybe some guys need only the sash badge
    13. Personally I'd give it 6,5 out of 10 Well, I don't think the price will be astronomical, especially since the seller "will be unable to falsify customs forms" + "tough economic times"
    14. Found the exact date This badge was established on July 6, 1940 by the СНК СССР (СНК, a.k.a. Совнарком) - Council of People's Commissars) order #1178. The size of the badge (approximately) is 29×27 mm. It was believed (for some time) that bronze version of the badge was a trial piece. But not anymore ;)
    15. Nice doc! I wonder if all census doc's have the same date: Taisho 10, 7 month, 1 day ;)
    16. Looks like you are not a big fan of " high achiever" variant Cheers, Nick
    17. Many "modern" russians have the same problem By the way, what do you think about adequate translation of this russian word "отличник"? Essentially отличник is the student obtaining "excellent" marks. According to the modern russian-english dictionary отличник = high achiever. But of course student obtaining "excellent" marks is "excellent student" Another possible variant - exemplary (student, worker, etc ...)
    18. I bet they are simply not affiliated with these mythical "workers' groups and unions" who "had been pressure for years ... to reestablish a state award" ...
    19. I think the prices for these are "strictly for the hard core fans of 1956 uprising"
    20. Yep. Unfortunately the price for this unusual piece was pretty unusual too... More than $1000 ... Cheers, Nick
    21. More like "High achiver of municipal economy of Moscow" This badge was established in 1940. Between 1940 and 1941 it was issued in silver. After 1941 badges were made in bronze.
