    1. Actually the Chicago method of judging is unique....the judges choose one piece to judge....that which the think will do the best. I entered models into two categories - historical painting and historical open (i.e. Scratch builts). MMSI puts on a heck of a show. The next World Expo miniature show will be held in downtown Chicago in 2017. Thanks for the nice words. Lcokin
    2. A while ago i was asked to show the whole bust collection. I entered them in the MMSI Chicago miniatures show last weekend and was lucky enough to come home with a silver and gold medal. Colin
    3. Try the link found in the first post here for more on IR 180 at Thiepval on July 1 (for some reason i can't link directly....probably iPad ios 8????) http://salfordwarmemorials.proboards.com/thread/2166/leipzig-redoubt-thiepval-german-perspective Tristan...i am interested in the other side if the hill as my Great Uncle was in one of 2 companies of the 3rd Salford Pals which attacked the Granatloch on July 1. He was one if the few to survive that unhurt but was moratlly wounded at Ovillers 2 weeks later. Colin
    4. Thanks gents....great avatar spasm :-) Colin
    5. Thanks Frank. A new record....sculpted and painted in a week. Colin
    6. Sort of modern trench art....and art it is! Superb creativity and execution. Cokin
    7. Not my best sculpting. I gave him a Clutclh Cargo jaw line :-) Colin
    8. Another project starting. Von Gersdorff was an anti- Hitler conspirator who attempted to kill Hitler in a suicide bomb attack as he guided the Fuehrer through an exhibit of captured war materiel in the Berlin Zeuhaus on March 21, 1943. Hitler sped through the exhibit and the bombs never detonated. Colin
    9. A 1/5 bust if Marshal Bessieres, commander of Napoleon's guard cavalry. Colin
    10. Thanks gents. I'm not sure I like it much but your encouragement will at least let me take it to the painting stage. I found this really interesting article (70+ pages) on Brock's uniform and other artifacts. Fascinating detective work. http://journals.sfu.ca/archivar/index.php/archivaria/article/download/12563/13718 I attached some better views of his face. Interesting that he had auburn (copper) coloured hair. Not often seen in paintings. Also there is a nice 2 minute feature on his coat from the CWM on YouTube. Colin
    11. My latest bust based on the only extant portrait of Brock made in his life and an anatomical analysis by Canadian artist Matt Danko of what he looked light from a 3/4 view. Colin
    12. Thanks gents - next up Major General Sir Isaac Brock at Queenston Heights 1812. Colin
    13. Sassoon done. You can see the famous "flash" of the Royal Welch Fusiliers behind his collar. Painted in artist's oils. Colin
    14. Owen....still needs collar insignia for Manchesters.
    15. Thanks Peter. Today I did a quick portrait of Sassoon's friend Lt. Wilfred Owen MC. Owen is recognized as the greatest of the war poets. Sadly he was killed in the last week of the war. This is the same size as Sassoon. They will look good together. Still finalizing his face so minor tweaks yet to come. Colin
    16. This one is a wee bit smaller than the event Napoleonics I have done. I think I may do a small group of war poets as my own little nod to the centenary - Sassoon, Owen, McCrae and perhaps a few others. Colin
    17. Thanks. I am thinking about subjects like Eduard de Colbert-Chabanais (red lancers), Isaac Brock, Siegfried Sassoon, Wellington. Colin
