    1. @JBFloyd WOWWWWWWWWWW what a snap, what a beauty, can we have a picture of the backside? Haynau
    2. @JBFloyd finally i found one in my books. but i'am afraid they don't know more either regards haynau
    3. Carlos, Rick what a strange career. I had to look twice if the thread wasn't opend on 1st of April. His choice of name is strange aswell. Harun al Rashid was Caliph of Bagdad (766-809 after Chr.) and is wellknown by the 'Geschichten aus 1001 Nacht' in english 'Arabian Nights' BTW the missing medjidie with sabers (it is a grandcross but that makes no difference because the turkish took 3.rd Classes and gave them away as grandcrosses) regards Haynau
    4. A friend of mine has the possibility to buy this british uniform (lieutenant, maybe fusilier line infantry). Unfortunately we are unable to date the uniform. (sorry for the bad pics) could some of the gents give us some enlightement if this uniform is post-1945 or prae-1945? and finally what would be a reasonable price? thanks in advance haynau
    5. as born austrian i should know it, but i have no idea. the ribbon does look turkish (Medjidie-Order) to me. haynau
    6. Gentlemen, I have to announce that a friend of mine found the solution to my little hallmark-problem on the back of my vaulted IC 1914. The unknown makers mark turned out to be an austrian import hallmark on silver items from 1902-1922. The little letter A on the left side of the hallmark (looks like an standing arrow) indicates that the item was imported and rehallmarked (repunched) in Vienna. this hallmark is very uncommon for orders and decoration from WW1. My friend thinks, that the IC must be an very early one from before 1915. at this early stage of the war the authorities maybe insisted on import hallmarks, later on came a swell of foreign (mostly german) decorations to austria and knowbody cared anymore for import hallmarks. Does anybody know when vaulted IC came into vogue? regards Haynau
    7. Finally I put a magnyfying glass in front of my camera lens. here are the results. I eamined the IC again and found a similiar Makers Mark (?) on the eyelet aswell. Haynau
    8. Gentlemen a question. I own a vaulted IC 1st Class 1914 hallmarked 950 on the center backside. on the pin near to the hinge is an extremly tiny mark (maker's mark?) that shows an A with wings on both sides. Sorry, it is so small, that i can't do any pics. Has anybody of you seen such a winged A before. regards Haynau
    9. Hi Saschaw, welcome on board, nice you joined the club. Nice bar isn't it? haynau
    10. Restrikes by the offical mongolian mint in ulan-bator? haynau
    11. i was one of the underbidders aswell but i knew the collector who bought it. He had some advantage in knowledge. he lived nextdoor to the seller and had the opportunity to inspect the medal. soon he found out that it was an lyakat in real gold. (of course he didn't tell the seller some weeks afterwards he needed money for an expensive imperial aquisition that was more in his interests und that is the way the medal came , for some surcharge, to me. haynau
    12. Yes i did, you are absolutely right Heiko. the gold-lyakat comes from ebay. so i have to search for another member of the keyserlingk-family haynau
    13. the german mounting is very curious. that mounting and the godet-shiedl was the reason for buying this bar. i wonder why it has be done that way. maybe an austrian who changed nationality after the collapse of the old reich? haynau
    14. @rick, thanks though this is not the answer i expected to get. i will have a phone call with the seller haynau
    15. Gentleman, i have to announce, that i bought my first bar ever. it is nothing special, only the backside persuaded me to this acquisition. regards haynau
    16. I'am no expert on REO myself, so it would be better if i kept silent but my gutfeeling and the missing hallmarks say, that it looks like a post-1945 rothe-copy haynau
    17. don't think so, no austrian box-type (but that is not decisive) and the older silver bravery medals till 1867 or the golden ones have an much more oval ribbon ring. haynau
    18. I own a turkish real gold lyakat medal that, so i habe been told, comes from the estate of Walter Freiherr von Keyserlingk Kapit?n SMS Kaiser. can somebody be so kind and give me somer further information about von Keyserlingk? thanks in advance haynau
