    1. Hello! What do you mean with "Musspreussen"? Well, the part of Essen is called Rüttenscheid. 5km from my home!
    2. Hello! Please note, it´s not an imperial Soldbuch. It´s a third Reich´s one! The Wehrmacht documents took over the dates of the first world war, like in this Wehrpaß. I attached a Wehrmacht Wehrpaß with entries of the Great War. By the way, a Dr. Schultze did exist!: Ranklist 1939: Hauptmann Dipl.Landw. (diploma agriculture) Dr. Schultze, in "Schutzbereichamt Köln". Hauptmann patent 1.8.33 Ranklist 1944/45: Schutzbereichamt Köln, Major patent 1.9.39, Oberstleutnant 1.8.44. In case of mobilization he belonged to the Pioniere
    3. I´ve heard about ist. Very sad, what happend to Spain the last years
    4. Well, that´s absolutely right. I use Wiki only as "very last possibility"... "Wikistupida"
    5. Hmm, I don´ t know exactly. I got my infos from Wiki: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legión_Española
    6. 1) The spanish legion only had 25% foreigners 2) Since 1987, no foreigners are allowed 3) The language...
    7. That would be great, Boris. I don´ thave too many books in foeign langauages, but around 2000 about war history in german language. If you look for something about german unforms ans history of formations, let me know
    8. Hello Boris! Thanks for the links! Unfortunately my spanish is not good enough to read it. It works after a couple of Riojas... Well, I still look for a book about the french foreign legion especially in the WW1. Hard to find... Here is a site which gives some infos: http://www.chtimiste.com/
    9. In the 1913 ranklist I found an Major Eurgen Schuster. Platzmajor in Festung Germersheim (with the uniform of bav. 16.Inf.Rgt.) Born 1866 Leutnant 93.3.88 Oberleutnant 11.6.95 Hauptmann 28.10.03 Major 3.3.11
    10. Ersatz... That means, he was a reserve-officer. I only have the 13 ranklist; there we would have the first names
    11. Thanks a lot in advance, Boris! Now off to work with me...
    12. Ah, ok. I´ve never checked french troops, if there were special catalan companies or bataillons. Probably they served with the unites, placed in french-Catalan
    13. Yes, I´v been a lot in Pedrola (Opel)... It would be interesting to hear something about spanish troops in the WWI. Thank you for helping identify the officers! Let´s wait and see
    14. Hello Boris! Thank you for the new infos! Yes, I know a little bit about the catalan history, when I used to be there with the lorry. I drove 15 years Germany-Spain as "camionero". You mean, the catalan volunteers were in the front line in nothern france?
    15. Yesterday I recieved a photo, shows v. Dellmensingen and Archeduke Carl in Heltau (near Hermannstadt). The photo must have been taken between august and November 1916, because Carl had the stars upon the collar. This rank (General) he only had in that period. The austrian officer behind Carl wears a cap badge of the XII.Korps (Hermannstadt)
    16. Hello Boris! Thank you very much for those useful informations. The spanish army of the ww1 is one of the armies, that I don´t know a lot... I didn´t know the history of the Schutztruppe clothes! One thing... You wrote, in 1917, parts of the spanish army stood on the western front. We were not in war with Spain. Do you have more details? I don´t suppose, they fought... You alos wrote, a spanish colonel was a god. Maybe it´s possible to identify the officers on my photo?
    17. Hi Chris! The facts: Major, white Garde-Litzen, prussian buttons, swedish cuffs, spiked helmet (no artillery), non-white base underneath the collar-Litzen. (red, yellow or maybe blue) I can´t recognize something upon the shoulder boards. The sword could be a cavalry-officer-sword. What about the 2nd cross? Ribbon maybe red-white-red = Hanseatic Cross of Bremen? (Just a guess) I´d say: A Major of Garde-Train-Bataillon (i.e. one of the units, which were set-up by the Garde-Train)
    18. Hi Tim! I´m glad, you enjoyed the book! Do you know the german casualty lists? Probably you´ll find the soldier here: http://des.genealogy.net/eingabe-verlustlisten/search
