    1. Hello, nice addition to your collection. Etui comes from Deschler however the cross itself was made by Jacob Leser. It's a 3rd (and last) type from this maker made from 1916. Regards Viliam.
    2. Hello Heiko, what's on your mind? Prussian military honor medal 2nd class (Militär-Ehrenzeichen 2.kl)?
    3. Sascha, Paul...thank you guys. Could you please be more precise with the term 'Official'? Who could that be? Someone who worked for government and was ensuring that things were done in accordance with the law? For example in this case some sort of Medical Inspector? Thank you.
    4. This will be my first non Bavarian item which got my attention because it most likely belonged to a doctor. It has not arrived from Mr. Beck yet but I could not wait to show you and ask couple of questions. So what we have here is: 1) EK2 for non combatants 2) Prussian Kriegshilfdienst cross 3) Red Eagle - question is which class? Medal only or 4th class? 4) Red cross medal - I suppose it's 3rd class as I think 2nd and 3rd class were allowed to be worn together, so 1 ribbon only means 3rd class 5) Prussian Long Service cross - 25 years, right? He was in already in 1897 so 15 years would not be the case 6) German South West Africa - no idea what was this for...some battles in the colonies? 7) Centennial Medal As far as I understood from Paul's "Researching German pre 1945 medal bars" topic this one cannot be identified as there are no award rolls for non-comb EK2s and Prussian DRK And here it is, using photo from dealer:
    5. While I'm not collecting other than Bavarian medals this one got my attention. See how the front side looks old and worn while the back is shiny brand new like if it was not the same bar. What do you think? Old ribbons mounted and new device?
    6. Thank you for your comments guys. Again I learned something new. And this is what our forum is about!
    7. Absolutely correct, Jacob Leser hallmarked J.L., cross 980, ring 900. I wonder, should I obtain then 24 year service cross? Hope I would be able to replace it if necessary.
    8. Hello folks... ...question to the medal-bar 'analyzers'. Who would you say was the owner of the bar. What I can read from it is that - he was not in any battle/war in 19th century as there's no Centennial medal - he did not participate in the WW1 as the MVO is on a peace time ribbon and without swords, there's no EK2 nor Honor Cross So we have a very short period of time between 1897 and 1914 where this guy had to be active. 15 years LS cross only confirms this. Are we talking here about lieutenant or captain who was in some training camp screamin' on his 'Manschaft' but who never held a leadership position in fight? Thanks for any opinions.
    9. Where exactly did you get it? I live in Bratislava for 30 years and never even thought that I could get an EKI here Regards, Viliam.
    10. I'm having same problem. Seems that the article is only for certain group of people registered at gulfcoast.edu. Anyway here's an interesting reading as well: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/royalty-obituaries/7978328/The-Maharaja-of-Dhrangadhra-Halvad.html
    11. Hello, what do you think are the orders in 3rd and 6th position? 1) EK2 2) MVK 2nd class with Swords and Crown or MVO 4th class with Swords and Crown 3) Oldenburg 2nd class? Or Holy Michael? Else? 4) Honor Cross 5) Luitpold's Jubilee 6) Long Service...9 years seems to be too short as there's the Luitpold medal. Maybe 15 years? More? Thank you.
    12. Second one: http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2010/post-6506-128145324626.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2010/post-6506-128145325612.jpg
    13. Hello, I hope there are some experts here on these. Picture are 2 examples of Bavaria Long Services Crosses, both for 24 years. I heard these are not easy to find and faked as well. Are they good? What would the reasonable price be? Thanks in advance for help.
    14. Now that's a hieroglyph! I tried some Suetterlin -> Verdana conversions maybe it helps. Definitely not a common name.
    15. Hello, all the pieces are made by J. Leser. Regarding the first piece you have to wait for someone how knows how the 2nd form looked like. Me as 3rd form collector I can only see a 3rd form 3rd class with strange silver look on the photo. 2nd piece is my opinion nothing else than the 2nd class with swords removed. It is very easy to remove the swords from Leser pieces as they are attached with a screw only. You always need to be suspicious when you see that triangular hole. Piece no. 3 looks slightly different. Here I'm not sure whether the swords were once there or not...I have never seen a piece without swords made by Leser but this one looks good (definitely better than no. 2) :catjava:
    16. This is supposed to be 2nd model 2nd class...Is it good cross? Who was the maker (looks like Hemmerle)? What would be the fair price? Thank you guys.
    17. That would make sense then...faded ribbon for Anschluss. Thank you guys for help.
    18. Hello, this mini thingy will arrive by the end of this week. It was a part of small lot of Bavarian stuff and I'd like to know more about it. So what do we have here? Medal for Sudetenland, medal for South West Africa (?) and Long Service Award (with missing device?). Did I identify them correctly? Seems to be a strange combination without any EK2 or HK.
    19. I wonder what happened to the cross when it was returned? Did they destroy it? Or was it disassembled and parts used again?
    20. Hello, Thank you very much. I will then add the bronze 'Carl' since this one's sleeping somewhere in my drawer.
    21. Hello, I just won this one on eBay. Before it arrives I'd like to know which Austrian award is missing on 3rd place and obtain it. Ribbon is not much of help to me as it seems that at least half of Austrian bravery awards shared the same white-red ladder ribbon. I'm sure that some of the medal bar experts here would know the key which I believe is buried in the combination of awards... Thank you in advance for help.
