And the Medal for Liberation of North China 1950. Obverse. Dolf

      Chinese medals

The only two Chinese Medals I have. One of the types/variations of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Medal (wouldn't mind at all to have the other t/v Rick has ). So, there are 5 types (variations?) of this one, right? Four have something written on the reverse (three of these also have a date, 1951, 1952, 1953 and one has no date), one has nothing on the reverse, like mine. Am I right Rick? Obverse. Dolf
    3. Bryan, Yeah, I guess I might have got those two Badges from the guy you mention. The hat Badge is indeed of quite better quality than the others I have (Soviet)! As for my Yugo awards I guess I'm only missing a Order of Yugoslavian People's Army 3rd Class, that's enough for me for the time being... Thanks again, Dolf
    4. Thanks a lot Bryan! Crystal clear now, buddy Dolf

Ok, please check this other thread on the Soviet & Eastern Block Orders, Medals & Decorations, here: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2344 Dolf

      Chinese medals

Ulsterman, The one on the left is the Soviet-Chinese Friendship Medal (there are a few variations of this one, visible on the reverse, either something written or a date, etc; will try to find pics and will posts later) but yours doesn't seem to have the right suspension or ribbon. I can't identify the other on the right. Hope it helps, Dolf
    7. Here is a book that was recommended for collectors of Ships and Subs Badges. Dolf
    8. Thanks a lot Dima. The frigate "Fearless" would be "Neustrashimiy", as I was told by another fellow collector, right? Dolf PS: Quoting an old post I found on another Forum, by Christophe, a member of this Forum too, about the "Fearless" frigate. Could it be translated by "Redoutable" instead?
    9. For obvious reasons (he was one of the rare sailors carrying Badges, including a Guards Badge ) this was my favorite pic. These Seamen were outside the ships, unarmed, rather for helping receiving the visitors or help people go aboard. Dolf PS: WOW! Just noticed this is my Post #1000 on the GMIC Forum (goes with the previous mentioned Subs) Ok guys, first round is on me
    10. And, apart from the "normal" armed soldiers with helmets and camo uniforms, there were also a few (special forces?) other armed guys with masks, guarding the ships. Dolf
    11. Also a K-26 helicopter aboard one of those ships, maybe the frigate. Dolf
    12. There was at least a couple of armored amphibian transports aboard one of the ships. Dolf
    13. The second ship, there is the name on it I believe. Dolf
    14. Dima, As a former Russian sea man, I guess you might know these two ships that visited Lisbon a few years ago. I've posted these pics on another Forum years ago and someone told me the name of these ships, but I simply can't remember or find them A frigate, I believe: Dolf
    15. Hi Doc, I've had these for some years now, bought all of the them from the same girl on eBay, her father got them in Russia in the 80's I believe. Not really my favorite display, as personally I'm more a planes fan than ships or subs, but I still like them of course (I guess I love Red Stars, no matter where they are located ). Thanks, Dolf
    16. As for the Subs on the right column of the same display mentioned above, the things are a bit more complicate than for the Ships There are more differences between them than for the ships. Only the 1st one on the top would I consider kind of golden color. That one has a flat reverse. The 2nd from the top is a silver color one, also with a flat reverse. All the others have a mirror reverse, but there are slight differences between them. For example the 3rd from the top is neither golden or silver color, but almost between both! The 4th one is rather silver color but has a small difference on the obverse, as the 2 towers are pretty different from all the others! This one also has a smaller red star than all the others! The 5th from the top (last one on that column) is also silver color, mirror reverse, but with the towers like the 3 first ones. Please just ask, if you want to see some pics, I'll try to post at least a couple later. Dolf
    17. Fifth one from top to bottom on that display. Silver color, mirror reverse rather smooth. Dolf
    18. Now the silver color ones. Fourth from top to bottom on the display. This one has a flat reverse. Dolf
    19. The third from top to bottom on the same display, again with a golden color. This one also has a mirror reverse, but the reverse is rather rough, if compared with the previous one. Dolf
    20. The second from top to bottom on that display, again with a golden color. This one has a mirror reverse rather smooth. Dolf
    21. Posting a few pics of the reverse of the 5 Ship Badges posted here, post #10, left column: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5641...t=0entry83459 Sorry for the quality of the scans but these guys are no piece of cake to scan with their long screws. Top to bottom: Ship CO Badge, golden color, flat reverse. On this one the reverse is (obviously) perfectly flat. Dolf
    22. Dima, Thank You! On both the materials seem to be the same for the Sub and the Flags. The anchor itself (at least based on the color) seems to be made of another material. But I have no idea what any of the different pieces are made of Maybe copper, maybe brass I guess, but can't be sure! Dolf
    23. The reverse of other 1000 Sub Badge, with only the flag. Dolf
