That's what I'd think (at least that's the case in Russia where only those given by vet associations or political organisations are considered unofficial), but apparently, if I do understand it right, only those given by the President would be considered official! Just forwarding what I was told! Dolf PS: Maybe it's just been given within the staff of the Ministry of Defense, reason why I was told it's unofficial! Anyway, now what really makes me curious is why two "variations" (?) of the 2nd Class!

Ok, some fresh news about this one. It seems it's a new unofficial Medal, apparently given by the Ministry of Defense. The name: "The Glory of Soldier". This is no replacement for any other Medal, just a new one. The Honorary Medal of Combat as we know it, is still given by the President. Dolf

I've had this one for a long time. Anyway, one more NIB to add to the list. I believe it's written in Russian, or at least in Cyrilic. As far as I can tell, on the suspension I think it says: ARMIIN AWARGA . On the Medal itself, above the VI I suppose it says: SLARTAKIAD. Btw, I have not the slightest idea what this would mean! Would this make any sense?! Could someone help and translate this? Thanks, Dolf

And finally the 1st Class I bought recently. This one follows the usual pattern, with the golden color circle around the blue centre. Some time ago I was told this is the new Medal replacing the old Honorary Medal of Combat (A 37), but as Combat is something Mongolia hasn't seen for decades, I wonder if instead this wouldn't be a kind of Military Merit or Valor Medal. Btw, all of them have the same reverse as the one shown on this pic of the 1st Class one. Dolf

Now watch the other 2nd Class I have. See the difference?! Any opinions gentlemen? Why this difference?! This is the only one I've seen with blue enamel where all the others have the usual golden metal color! Dolf

Gerd, Not sure where they were made Anyway, on that Ed & Jan list of Types & Variations posted on this same thread it seems that from T1V1 to T2V2 they were made of silver. Those two we were comparing before (T2V3; as well as T2V4) seem to be made of brass and then silver plated. Dolf

Alan, The Medals look apparently good to me too, but as I said that doesn't mean too much! He could have picked the pics in some Russian Forum for example!... It's the only payment method he accepts that makes me suspicious, specially being a seller from that part of the World. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against those good people but as you say there have been plenty of buyers burned on eBay by dealers from those countries... in fact he is registered in Belarus, only the awards would be in Austria! As for no bids and only ywo days to go... well I have myself quite a few items on eBay on the same circumstances, so... Yes, the 666 is the anti-christ number, according to some... Dolf
