    1. Hi guys, Thanks for the comments! Actually, Rick, I did get these in a batch of 3! It seems like it either rains or pours! It had been quite sometime since I had bought a medal bar and then these all popped up at once. Needless to say they also hurt my wallet! But I knew I would most likely never see a Mine Rescue Service medal in many years so I jumped at the opportunity. The Mine bar is in the safe now but the backing is the yellow wool that I have seen on other single bars, ususally NSDAP 10 year awards. Nothing "glows", ribbon condition mathces rest of mount. Just the stuff one looks for! Gary B
    2. Hi, Just a few more for the collection. 1st up is an all 5 place TR bar. Gary B
    3. Hi, Here is a great close up photo of Generaloberst von Greim which shows his collar tabs. The picture really depicts the depth of the bullion weave and the overall quality of the tabs. Gary B
    4. Hi Paul, Thanks. Any info appreciated. I will try to get some pix of the innerlay but tonight is my daughters 1st big dance (8th grade) so I will be occupied with that! Gary B
    5. One more...slightly mismatched. Not sure if these are 2 differnt ones or just some variations due to the nature of their being "hand crafted"
    6. Attached are some Admin board with a secondary inner lay of purple. Does anyone remember what purple represents? Gary B
    7. As for the internal threads of the piping, I recall that Garth stated on one of his postings awhile back that he believed they should not glow. It does look like a good tabs and I can not think of a reson anyone would fake one tab such as this. Gary B
    8. Hi Paul, Hmmm, not sure what to say. All appears good. The piping looks a little unusual. I assume it is silver? One thing you could do is to remove one of the threads which appear to have held the tab to a uniform and see if it is nylon with the burn test. I used this method once on a medal bar and it was quitehelpful. Gary
    9. Hi Paul, Remember that it is acceptable for some colors to glow/turn different shades. For example pink Luft engineer tabs turn an orangish color under the UV light and this is perfectly ok. I am not sure how the crimson would react to UV since I dont have any. If you are comfortable with the originality of the Gen Staff board than I would blacklight botht the tab and board at the same time to see how they react. They should react the same based on theyour pictures. Again this is no guarnatee since the GS boards might have used a different type of dye, but would be a good sign if they did "glow" the same. Just a suggestion. Gary B
    10. Dear john, Kriegs badges, at least the early ones, had a mecury fire gilded finish. The process does require some gold to be used. Typically the amalgam (mercury alloy) contains 6-8 parts of mercury with 1 part gold. Once the excess mercury is seperated from the mixture it is applied to the badge. The badge is then fired so the mercury evaporates leaving the gold behind. Hope this helps. Gary B
    11. Paul, I have not studied, nor collected the TK tabs for the Luft, so I am of no help here. I am still struggling to focus on the "regular" waffenfarbes but YOU keep broadening my collection I am currently looking at all of the admin tabs I have to buy to complete the tab collection! G
    12. Paul, I can not recall any discontinue dates for Reserve color in Angolias book. Tab production in general stopped in 44, I believe. Nice tabs! Gary B
    13. Dear Dom, We obviously need to see a picture of the basement now!! Gary
    14. Dear Dom, The case is in great condition as well! Nice buy! Gary B
    15. Dear Dom, A super nice badge. It is so hard to get a GWL Pilot badge with alot of the finish on the eagle. They seem to have that carmel color when they are a little worn. It also looks like it comes in a nice case. Can you shoot/post a picture of the titled portion of the case? Gary B
    16. Sent PM The set I saw at the SOS were for Oberst or Oberstleutnant. Beautiful tabs but I was broke by then! Gary B
    17. Hi Paul, Yes grades 6-10 are identical to the tabs that you and I have except for the piping, which is aluminum twist cord piping. The judicial admin tabs are hard to come by. Bill Shea has a mint set which I believe you have mentioned before. Is this the set you are looking to purchase/trade for? I also saw one pair at the SOS for about $400 +. Gary B
    18. Paul, I recognized the Judicial Admin tabs right away! I had them on my eventual list to buy! Where did you get the LSW set???!!!! I am soooo envious! I have been looking for a pair exactly like that! Your SHD tab is a nice variation. We both need to find the 6-10 grade now! Gary B
    19. Hi Laurence, Those are really nice tabs! I neeeed them! Your price tag looks very similar to the ones I have for the Signla Oberst ones, same attachments too. Gary B
    20. And last but not least, a very ugly set of Wartime officals on black waffenfarbe. Although appearing to be a mismatchesd set, the tabs are sewn together. All of the black waffenfarbe tabs I own or have seen were of poor quality; mishapen and generally lacking in the same detail that tabs of other waffedfarbe have. I am not sure why this is. I have handled about a dozen pair of black tabs and all exhibited this same poor craftsmanship/lack quality of construction. These tabs, although ugly, are the 1st set of War time officials I have seen on a black waffenfarbe. Prior to this I have seen yellow, red, green and pink. Comments welcome. Gary B
