Below an update. The first two awards actually are with certificates while the rest are with decrees. This provides tentatively a range: - certificates from 1 (?) - roughly 2500 - decrees from 1 (?) - 7350? For the decreed ones, it's clear the nr of decree increases in line with increase in date of awarding so these must have all been centrally adminstered in Tirana. The lengthy awarding period for the Order of 40 years PPSH is intriguing. Mongolian awards: - green document with gold lettering, not clear from interior what this award is for - dated 1934 (=1944?) - nice award document with pic (wearing what appears to be a polar star and probably victory over japan award), award doc number 00105 (!!!) stamped on first page, containing following awards (dates as in booklet): * Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor, nr 105, 6-7-36 * Order of Polar Star, nr 1801, 29-9-35 * Honorary Medal of Combat, nr 3098, 8-7-37 * Order of Polar Star, nr 2162, 9-7-39 * Order of Combat Valor, nr 381, 28-7-54 - medal 25 years of the MPR, nr 2956, no clear date - medal we won, nr 70 (yes, 70), 29-6-46 - document from 1956, not clear what it's for, also refers to 1933 and 1937, doc includes pic of older general (retired?) - green doc - pic to follow - medal 30th anniversary of the victory at khalkin gol, 1969 - medal 50 years of the MPA, 1971 - medal 50 years of state security of MPR, 1972 - medal 30th anniversary of the victory over militaristic japan, 1977 - medal 50 years of khalkin gol, 1980 - medal 60 years of the armed forces of MPR, 1981 - medal 60 years of MPR, 1981 - red booklet referring to a medal awarded in 1984, not clear which... will post pic - yet another medal 60 years of armed forces, 1986 (strange!) the interior of the document is also different, another text - red document for honorary medal (C20), 1991 - medal 70 years MPR, 1991 - medal MPA 70 years (C57) Now... that's a LOT of documents (and I wish i had all the awards!)

Soviet awards: - medal for victory over japan, 1946 (pic to come in a second, usual interesting "text") - some kind of badge made out to the Major General, 1955 (pic 2 in a second) - order of the red star (nr 3.700.098), 1971 - medal for 30th anniversary of victory in the GPW (for foreigner), 1975 - medal for 40th anniversary of victory in the GPW (for foreigner), 1985 A rare set of documents (mcdaniel/schmitt indication that on the last 2 medals only 5000 awarded in total each)

For my understanding, are you saying he's a "fraud" for wearing it? Or that - given Tamara is a "free" order... anybody could produce it / issue it - it is actually a rare variation? Raises (at least for me) the question of how te logistics of it all worked... you'd go to a jeweller, had to show an award document, and only then would a Tamara be produced for you?

Just in, nr 423 and nr 915 That puts - highest number seen 915 - lowest number seen 378 No need to post pics I guess. Continues to support believe by some that max 1.000 of these numbered Skanderbegs were produced/issues.

Enzo - are you sure this is silver? I just noticed it has two rivets... all the other silver IKOM numbered ones I've seen or in my collection do not have those rivets. Combined with the numbering which is an outlier (high as well as style), I suspect this one raises some questions.

That's what I was afraid of... Oh well, maybe i'll find one when i'm 68 then? :beer:
