Can anyone help me with this cross - is it a fake. looks alot different to the ones im used to seeing

That cross was one of about 5 that were for sale at an auction. That one and 2 other didnt sell. The others made up to 6500 euro. I assume the others must have been real or else someone was badly caught. That cross had a value of 2500 + 15% Commision on the catalogue. Is it unusual for fakes to make it into what you would think would be a reputable auction house. Another web site advertised a 1957 RK for sale and when i enquired the came clean and said they werent sureif it was real or a reproduction. Is there any safe place to buy a medal like a knights cross.

Hello all Here is another cross i have come on. dont know whether to take a chance on it or how much it may be worth. There is no case or papers with it but to me it looks good but i am no expert any comments would be appreciated. Assuming its ok what would this cross be worth?

Would it be true to say that your cross was bought originally by a holder of the knights cross

Thanks Darrell Mind made up. If these modern versions were never owned by knights cross holders the may as well be catagorised as reproductions

Thanks Darrell, appreciate the advice. I thought it looked nothing like the quality of war time pieces. It comes with letters of authenticity etc. 300 euro is what they are looking for. Would that be a fair price considering it has the oak leaves and swords. Would that medal have to of been made for a holder of that level of knights cross or are they easier got than that. If only a holder can get one made you would think they would be relatively scarce

I am assuming it is real but dont know alot about them Any comments on this particular cross would be appreciated and if any one would have any opinions on what 1957 crosses are worth it would be great

Can anyone tell me what would a 1957 S + L Knights cross in its case be worth. I know a guy who has one and is willing to sell

Thanks for your help PK I have alot to learn about this award. I have decided not to rush into getting one. I have seen alot of them on different sites for sale ranging from 4000 euro to 12500 euro. I have no idea why there would be such a variation in price and until i know why i would not be confident enough to buy any of them. However i will keep looking.

Sorry about my delay in replying to your views i had difficulty logging in. I appreciate all the comments ye have made even if some were quite aggressive(joke). As a group ye all seem no have a great knowledge of the award. The price of that medal at the time i think was about 400 euro. If i thought it was genuinely worn in place of an rk holder i would have bought it. However there probably would have been no proof of this. Just wondering if you can tell form the picture if the ribbon is a modified EK2 ribbon or is it Genuine RK ribbon or neither. Thanks for all your comments.

Thanks Uwe Who were the bundeswehr were the third reich or after and what does signal service mean. Is that something to do with the collar tabs or do they relate to a rank. Any help would be appreciated. I have a small collection which i wish to sell but know absolutely nothing about them. At least now i know to take the two badges of them.

thanks for your help guys, a worthless fake. dont think i paid much for it originally, cant even remember buying it. its the only fake in my collection as far as i know thanks for taking the time to check it out

thanks speedy top the one i have has no markings on back. it seems to have a different type of leaves on each side of the elipse and seems to be worn more on one side than the other. i wish to seel this badge - do you know anyone who could verify its originality and perhaps recommend a value
