Hungary Hungarian Generals Insignia
bazsi replied to TeaRex's topic in Central & Eastern European States
Gordon has an impressive collection, these are great General Officer uniforms. The last one, the General Major uniform is a bit earlier from the early 90's (1991-1993). The metal badge for officers which was used instead of the obsolete academic badges were used between 1991-1993. The cloth ribbon bars is an earlier one from the late 80's and the early 90's. A new type of ribbon bars was introduced in the mid 90's. Another uniform from the same person: http://nephadsereg.h...Mk-Scharrer.jpg The cloth ribbon bars was officialy introduced in late 1985 but the general usage started from 1986. You can find other General Officer uniforms in the following site by clicking on each photo which represents the uniform periods of the Hungarian Peoples Army or the Hungarian Army. http://nephadsereg.hu/gyujtemeny.html Regards, Balazs -

Hungary My favourite early K?d?r uniforms
bazsi replied to Sandor Molnar's topic in Central & Eastern European States
Gordon, I'm sorry to forgot the chin strap. Yes, it remained, just the buttons were changed. I have another allowed 1955/1958M cap with the same characteristics. Regards, Bazsi -

Gordon, Yes, it is a 1955M cap modified to 1958 regulations (my 1957M designation was not punctual, because the 1957M caps were made of brown material as 1951M caps). The allowed term refers to the white part of the cap, it is a private made cap (probably by offical tailors) for the white allowed tunic. The main difference between 1955M and 1958M is the inner side (the material of the lining). It is a romboid structure in 1955M version. The visor is plastic made in model 1958, before 1958 it was made by leather. The modification was only the badge change in 1958. Regards, Bazsi -

Gents, Great photos, great uniforms! My favourite early K?d?r uniforms from my collection. 1957M overcoat (cpt., air force) -
Thanks! I thought just the ribbon last is surely cuban. The original owner of the uniform was maj.gen. K?ri Gy?rgy. He was the political lieut. commander of the 5th army (command of the land forces). In 1986-1990 he was the 1st secretary of MHSZ (Hungarian National Defense Association). Regards, Bazsi

Austria-Hungary Large Golden Bravery Medal post war issue
bazsi replied to hunyadi's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
Charles, I'm happy if I can help in such questions. These informations about bravery medals are mostly (but not all) experiences. Most of the literature (e.g. Hungarians) doesn't write about these problems. Mericka writes a few words about Petzl signature medals. Regards, Bazsi -

I think the best way is the "conservative" way. The order and medal collectors uses the model/variant/subvariant nomenclature. In my opinion we have to use the same system. We cannot invent new denominations for every modification, for evry subvariant. If we use our own denomination, we will speak in different languages. I like Sanyi's solution, the M1965, modified 1957. Regards, Bazsi -

Gordon, What a beautiful ribbon bars!!! The reason is why I think that it is the DDR medal, that it is a painted plastic ribbon bar. We can see some painted items with different sizes. The sizes on the silk version is always the same as the original DDR. And the DDR medals are more frequent. But it can be also cuban of course. It is just a little brainstorming. Which medal is it if it is cuban? Regards, Bazsi -

Hi Sandor! Welcome to the forum! I think Gordon has right about the denomination (you can use what you want, and it can be correct), but it would be the best situation if we can make and use accepted denominations. In this case we have 3 problems: 1. Waist cut disappeared in 1961, but the denomination of these tunics remains M1957. 2. Piping disappeared in 1965. 3. After 1965, these eraly K?d?r style tunics were transformed into M1965, in this case with a late M1965 shoulderboards. In my opinion, the best would be if we call it (like M1951/1957): M1957/1965. Gents! What do you think about this solution? Gordon, Are you sure, that the last ribbon is a cuban one? The german (GDR) Brotherhood in Arms Medal - Silver (1966)has the same ribbon, but the yellow is thinner. I think it is just a small mistake by painting. Reintex has the ribbon for this medal, but just for ribbon bars, and not for the whole size medal. Regards, Bazsi
