    1. Glad to see a few other horse badge guys. I have recently started chasing these. On the first page someone mentions they don't like the S & L in post 4. It looks fine. Not uncommon for S & L's to have poor detail on the back. The pin is a replacement.
    2. Horse badges are one of my recent side collections. Like Paul, I have never seen a pic with two different Horse badges of one dude. Then to find out he is a relative........I love it. Now for my fatherly advice, put these photos in an archival quality scrap book. What I would do is take the photos you want to display to a real photo shop and have them scanned and copies made. That way you can store the originals in the best way possible. You may have other relatives that want copies and will split the costs. Last but not least never let them go and be sure your family knows what they are. When I meet people that had relatives in one of the wars(not collectors like us) I tell them it may not mean much to you but 50 or 100 years from now it may mean a lot to someone.
    3. Those are stunners. Anybody that doesn't like those just ain't right in the head. Place a small tag on the back to remind you to contact me when you decide you need something else instead.
    4. Here is a shoulder board on a tunic offered at The Collector's Guild. Very nice tunic by the way. I have not dug into my Angolia books yet but on collector's guild he states he believes the red cord may indicate a particular regiment or unit. My first guess would be a FLAK, Artillary, or Anti-Tank unit.
    5. I finally received my volume 2. Less than $150 all in. I would call it new except for a few dinged corners. Holy crap, most of the questions I have asked can be answered in this book. It rests on my nightstand inches from my head so I get all the MOJO I can from it each night.
    6. Welcome to the small but proud group of luft insignia colectors
    7. I have looked at several on Ebay. Paul, I agree with the material being rough or thin on mine. I'm not so sure on the size since I can't compare to any others. Mine are definately great coat size. So I would like to see some measurments. or side by side comparisons. Regarding the eagles, All the repro's on ebay right now have the circle feet. Mine don't have any circles. I personally like the shape of these better than most. Are you talking about the braid being verticle? Most of my others have the braids flared up and out, some more than others.
    8. No need to appologize. If they are bad they are bad. I would like to see the ebay tabs.
    9. I have a theory. Let's say you were a young egotistical doctor and you wanted to make certain your little "doctor snake" stood out. Use silver pips and every fraulein within a hundred yards will notice you.
    10. Looks like a cousin, I was able to get three pics resized before Camedia blew up.
    11. In a recent batch of goodies a I acquired a single Captain board Stabsarzt(silver pips). Light gray waffenfarbe dark blue Nebbenfarbe and a gold medical Askulapstab(staff and serpent) cypher. Is it the obvious? Penal unit staff doctor? I know.....post a pic.......My camera, software, and I are currently not getting along.
    12. Strangly I had this idea 10 years ago while at Big Foot4X4. One of my responsibilties is we sponsor them. I go in there on occasion to give technicl advice nad give free product so they treat me quite well. My company developed diagnostic equipment that allowed them to build a shock dyno. This led to there long run of dominence in the Monster truck world. They sell broken body parts as souvenirs. I discussed taking the whole right side of the truck and cut the edge of the tires so I would end up with 4-8" of the real truck mounted inside my garage.
    13. Now you need a large section of an airplane. Maybe just the cockpit and one wing.
    14. I already knew when I made the last post there would be a breaking point. I'm just not sure what that will be. Maybe I can get the seller(whomever that will be) to put a picture of Jaclyn Smith in the box.
    15. I hope I am finally a "contributor" to the cause. If not and I confused the issue I can take a little humiliation, just don't be too cruel.
    16. That is odd, You would think with that kind of demand the publisher would be all over another printing. I doubt I will pay $250 or more for any book unless it is delivered by Jaclyn Smith in person.
    17. I am learning a lot so I could be overlooking the obvious. But, I see and don't understand; Post 40 says it is an Oberfeldwebel(lower career level one pip). Shouldn't that be a Feldwebel? I thought Oberfeldwebel was 2 pips? Also related am I correct in assuming a lower career NCO board with no pips would be not possible? Post 41(medium career with 2 pips) says it is a Hauptfeldwebel. Isn't that an Oberfeldwebel? The NCO rank chart does not show a Hauptfeldwebel. Why would the earlier regulation for medium career not have pips but is Oberfeldwebel when normal Luft board Ober had 2? Thanks for all you research, Eric Here is part of post 3; On 02November1940, 1. Lower Career- The shoulder boards are identical to those used by the other officials with the Oberfeldwebel ranking. The base color was that of the branch color (dark Green) and the center color was that of the nebenfarbe. The upper layer consisted of a blue/grey cord, twisted to loop at the buttonhole. Pips were used to differentiate between Feldbwebel and Oberfeldwebel. 2. Medium Career- The braiding was made of double blue grey flat cords iwth a center strip of aluminum and surrounded by double blue grey cords. This is is a three layer board with branch color and nebenfarbe. There were no pips, as the only ranking possible was Oberfeldwebel. On 01February1941, For the medium career, the regulations changed requiring the use of two aluminum colored pips per shoulder board.
    18. I would be happy to volunteer my services to sight in the new shootin' iron.
    19. I have managed to find volume's 1 and 3. Anyone know where I can find vol 2 that isn't $250?
    20. Paul, In the early posts you say NCO medium career is only Oberfeldwebel. Then 1941 rule add two aluminum pips. Are they still Oberfeldwebel only? If so I think one of the pics later in the thread is misidentified. Trying to clarify for my own good.
    21. Hey Paul, have you seen the new destroyer class being built? Stealth, and the new 57mm gun that has all kinds of programable war heads? The guns are going to be used by the Navy and CG. Down right scarey. Eric
