Joe Yours is in grat condition. I had no idea what time period it was from but decided to take the $8 plunge at the flea market the other day. This one is hard to judge because their are no symbols on it too. Is yours marked the same on the reverse? Thanks alot for showing. I guess I'll put it in my WHW box. Take Care Robert

[attachmentid=48295][attachmentid=48296] Gents I have allways wondered about this organization because of the relatively low price of its membership regalia. A also wonder how many diferent makers of these badges there were. Also, are these heavily copied? Enjoy your Sunday and try to keep cool. Robert

Pete A little about The Monte Olivia. "In May 1934 as soon as the weather permitted, KdF initiated its cruise program by sending the steamships Dresden and Monte Olivia from Bremerhaven to the North Sea island of Helgoland. The ships, filled with well-dressed and allegedly awestruck workers at sea for the first time in their lives, sailed through the Straits of Dover to the English Channel and Isle of Wight before returning to their port of disembarkation." Page 135 STRENGTH THROUGH JOY I can post a photo of the steamer (chartered from the Hamburg-South America line) if I have enough file space. I need to devote less time to reading and more time enhancing my computer skills. Robert

[attachmentid=48129]Pete This is the one I am talking about. I can't find another in my collection made of this material. It isn't bronze but maybe copper? Maybe you have one of these and could tell. The reverse is unmarked and the file space too large so I will just show the front. have a nice weekend. Robert

What a beauty. It never ceases to amaze me how much effort was spent in the details of these things. It must start with a photo and maybe then to a block of wood and then to a die. I don't know for sure but the effort had to be pretty time/labor intensive. I guess that was one way to eleiminate unemployment. I want to show another one that you may already have. It has some wheight to iy but I am not quite sure from what it is made. Robert

[attachmentid=48120][attachmentid=48121] Gents I have just noticed that the scope of this section has now grown to include all of 106 years! We have our work cut out for us. God bless our moderator. This badge is in Husken 1997 page 103 8208a. My example has the green border found on the Tyrolian shooting badges. Would this then be the leader's badge that I show? Any ideas on the time frame of this badge. I was once told that Erwin Rommel headed this particular group as a younger man. Any clues or opinions. The enamelling on this is what attracted me right off as you very rarely see the combination of colors that it has. Thanks to all. Robert

Yes but Ralph the piece that you mention was one you saw in an image to buy or another? And yes, you are very fortunate to get credit to your account before mailing it back. And dollar amounts are relative. If you are a person of means 70 Euro is nothing. If you, on the other hand, are of more proletariat means, it is a different story. I have only asked if it was received yet and sent an image of my postal receipt. Nothing more. In actuality, the medallion was not even mine since again, it wasn't the one I saw offered for sale. You can't do business that way. I am going to wait. For awhile anyway. Will keep posted. Robert

Don, I have decided to give it one more week before I take it any furthur. I have not received my credit card bill for it yet but I plan on contesting the charge. I have sent Weitze an image of my registered air-mail receipt. As I see yet, with that receipt, he has to debit my card for the total amount. I am not responsible technically for this medallion because it was not the one I was shown to buy. I was simply mailing back his medallion not my medallion. My medallion was the one I saw on his website. If the package is lost he can have the $40 in insurance money. I simply wan my credit card debited for my charges. It is as simple as that. Here in the US we have the Better Business Bureau to help us. I will call them and find out what direction I should go next. What bothers me the most about this is now I am feeling a bit sour about collecting in general. I really shouldn't even have to be doing any of this if I would have received the right medallion or told that it was no longer available. Will post furhtur as more information becomes available. Gents I just thought I would give a quick update on my progress with the Saar medallion. As you may recall I was sent a different piece than the one depicted on the Weitze website. After a few e-mails I was informed that I could "simply" mail it back for a full refund which would include all shipping charges back and forth. I was told to "mail it back registered airmail". I did just that on July 5 now 16 days ago. And you guessed it right if you said that it hasn't arrived yet! So this is where I stand in this matter so far. I have a 70 Euro charge on my credit card to Mr. Weitze. I gave $10.45 US to the postmaster to send it back. All I have to show for all of this is a Postal receipt. Happy Collecting? Have a nice weekend. Robert
