    1. Photos from the exhibition "Treasury of Military Museum". As you can see the exhibition was supposed to be open until 26th September. When I went the last day to see the exhibition and make some photos the doors were locked. I went inside the museum to see if someone can let me in and that's when I was told: "We decided to close the exhibition earlier, we already started packing everything." Really unbelievable! Photo album from 1872, a gift to prince Milan from his officers.
    2. Excellent photos, there can't be many double first class recipients. Both stars are Soviet type.
    3. Excellent, thanks for sharing! Details are much better, any idea about the last order on his left side? Its central medallion reminds me of the Russian White Eagle.
    4. Thank you, Peter. The color of the blanket is actually light beige. I'm not sure if it's really US, considering that the Serbian troops received uniforms and equipment from the Allies after the retreat through Albania that's one possibility. I was looking for French and British WW1 era blankets and what I saw online looked even more different. I know how it goes with the "family stories", I'm not absolutely sure if it's true, but one thing's certain, this blanket has been in the family for five generations. Perhaps it isn't military issue at all...
    5. Seems like Serbia didn't have military attaches in France so generally speaking its representatives must have been even more keen to attend the maneuvers. First of all that was a nice opportunity to visit France and there's also the financial aspect. I stumbled upon information about their travel allowances in the Official Military Gazette but I was foolish enough not to save it. Also let's not forget that officers who attended the maneuvers received the Legion of Honor. I don't know if that was a general rule but my ancestor was awarded with the 4th class (officer) during the 1912 maneuvers.
    6. Looks like the Medal of the Czechoslovak Military Order for Liberty. Here's a photo from Wikipedia for comparison.
    7. Brezhnev's decorations exhibited during funeral, among them Order of Freedom and Grand Yugoslav Star.
    8. One more Polish recipient, general Stanislav Poplavsky wearing Partisan Star 1st class and Bravery Order.
    9. Polish marshal Michał Rola-Żymierski wearing People's Hero Order.
    10. There were two types of NCO shoulder boards. Those on the photo were introduced in 1946 and I think the other type with stars was used for couple of years during the fifties.
    11. Honestly, I don't know but I doubt it. Maybe it was some kind of an award pin or a pin given to the participants of a certain event.
    12. Marinović's photo and biography are available HERE (text in Serbian). He became general in 1913, these are some of the positions he held during his career: minister in the Serbian government, infantry inspector, professor at Military academy, military judge and editor of the magazine "Warrior" (Ratnik). I can't speak for other countries but Serbian representatives were very carefully selected, just remember some of the names we wrote about in other topics.
    13. Serbian Official Military Gazette The following officers were chosen to attend the grand maneuvers In Italy: Pavle Jurišić - Šturm (Paulus Sturm), honorary adjutant of HRH the King, , commander of the Danube divisional area, infantry colonel; In France: Milutin Marinović, inspector of infantry, general staff colonel;
    14. Boris Kalinkin wearing Order of the People's Hero, unfortunately I couldn't find better photos.
