    1. The central monument is in pretty bad shape, I'm not sure when exactly was it reinforced but certainly recently. Inscription: "DAS PREUSS. RES. INF. RGT. 208 - SEINEN GEFALLENEN HELDEN" (Das Preußische Reserve – Infanterieregiment 208 seinen gefallenen Helden).
    2. Today The entrance gate with inscription "Deutscher Helden Friedhof 1915", central monument is visible from there (4th photo).
    3. "Mackensen bench" built when Wilhelm II visited Belgrade. It overlooks the Sava river, which back then was the border and could be seen from the graveyard. In the meantime many buildings were erected and today they are blocking the once beautiful view. Mackensen is probably the most respected enemy in Serbia, couple of his speeches about Serbian troops that are often quoted: "You are not going to the Italian, or Russian, or the French front. You are going into a fight against a new enemy who is dangerous, tough, brave and sharp. You are going to the Serbian front, to Serbia, and Serbs are people who love their freedom and who are willing to fight for it to their last. Do your best so this small enemy does not overshadow your glory and compromise the success you’ve achieved so far in the glorious German army." "We fought against an army that we have heard about only in fairy tales, who defended themselves with virtually unprecedented courage. The moment we conquered Serbia hurt us more than her allies." The other reasons why he was so respected has to do with the behavior of other occupying forces who committed mass atrocities against the Serbian civilian population and prisoners of war. This was not the case with the Germans.
    4. Greetings, Couple of days ago I visited German Military Graveyard (Deutscher Heldenfriedhof) in Belgrade's neighborhood Banovo brdo. I've made couple of photos which I will post in this topic together with other ones I found on various, mainly Serbian, forums. The graveyard was built on the orders of August von Mackansen in 1915 and it was the final resting place of German soldiers that mainly belonged to 208th Reserve Regiment (Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 208) 88th Reserve Brigade (88. Reserve-Infanterie-Brigade), 44th Reserve Division (44. Reserve-Division). They lost their lives during battles that took place between October 7th and November 10th 1915. According to Mackansen's orders Serbian soldiers of the 7th Infantry Regiment "King Petar I" (7. пешадијски пук "Краљ Петар I") were to be buried on the same place, some speak of 30, other sources claim 36 of them. German soldiers who died during WW2 were also buried there. The whole complex was maintained and kept in a decent shape during the interwar period but all that changed after the Second World War ended. Couple of photos that show how it looked like in the past, first the central monument dedicated to the soldiers of the 208th Reserve Regiment.
    5. King Aleksandar Karađorđević's Legion of Honor and impressive miniature chain that belonged to Milutin Garašanin (Милутин Гарашанин). It consists of: -Order of the Cross of Takovo V -Silver Bravery Medal (Obrenović era) -Commemorative Medal for the Restoration of the Kingdom -Order of the Iron Crown (Austria-Hungary) -Order of the Romanian Star -Order of Leopold (Austria-Hungary) -Order of the White Eagle -Order of the Cross of Takovo III They are kept in the Military Museum in Belgrade.
    6. One more photo from the exhibition where we can see Russian Order of St. Vladimir with swords next to French Legion of Honor and WW1 War Cross.
    7. Couple of sources mention 41 decorations (25 domestic and 16 foreign). I've tried to make the complete list yesterday but some things are still not completely clear. Hopefully everything will be resolved in that exhibition catalog. 8. A few more found here. Order of the White Eagle with Swords 1st class Order of the Star of Karađorđe 3rd class Order of St. Michael and St. George Legion of Honor
    9. Don't mention it. Unfortunately many historically significant objects "disappeared" from the Military Museum during wars, some even after the liberation of Belgrade in WW2. This is the most complete collection of decorations that belonged to a Vojvoda. There's a list of his decorations on Serbian Wikipedia page: https://sr.wikipedia.org/sr/Петар_Бојовић
    10. Order of the Star of Karađorđe with Swords 2nd Class Order of the White Eagle with Swords 1st Class Legion of Honor 1st Class Photos found here.
    11. Few pages from the catalog found here Medal bar, notice the scarce Golden Bravery Medal 1885-86, apart from that Order of Dannebrog and Order of the Redeemer Order of the Cross of Takovo 3rd class (Fleischhacker) Bulgarian Order of Military Merit 2nd class (Schwerdtner) French Legion of Honor 1st class
    12. Exhibition "Vojvoda Petar Bojović - Decorations of Glory and Honor" (Војвода Петар Бојовић - знамења славе и части) will be held at Serbian Presidency building starting from tomorrow! Vojvoda's son Dobroslav gave the decorations to Kosta Rakić to safeguard them around 60 years ago! Mr. Rakić who is now 94 years old decided it's finally time to present them to the public! According to information I found in couple of articles the collection consists of 26 decorations (not all were saved) including Order of the Star of Karađorđe 2nd class and Order of the White Eagle with swords 1st class! 13. The selection is better at night I especially like when that guy from the Secretariat for Culture says how Serbian people must have been very happy when they got their own currency in the second half of the TWENTIETH century
    14. Local TV report about the exhibition. Some interesting pieces can be seen.
    15. Any ideas about that 3rd class Takovo? Unusual crown and central medallions. Someone repaired the order by replacing missing parts? Visible hallmarks under the crown, unfortunately I can't read them, KF usualy put them there. Also the "base" looks like it could be from that producer...
    16. Maybe because he sits all day long at museum's storage and never goes out
    17. The medal is definitely Slovenian, except for the "style" the inscription is in Slovenian, "I tAnkovska brigada". According to some information I found online 800 of them were made, 600 numbered + 200.
    18. Medal for Devotion Cross for Devotion Order of the Cross of Takovo 3rd Class Medal for Zealous Service for Woman 1876-1878 50 para from 1875 minted in Vienna First test banknotes printed in 1876, which were never put into circulation because of the outbreak of the Serbo-Turkish war. 19. THE OBRENOVIĆ DYNASTY – DECORATIONS AND MONEY Thirty-nine panels displayed at the Sava Promenade will show decorations, coins and banknotes issued during the reign of the Obrenović dynasty (1815–1839; 1858–1903). The presented items are part of the Collection of Coins and Medals of the Belgrade City Museum. 20. I agree, it must have been added later. I won't say it's impossible that the order was awarded to a female but considering that it's with swords it sounds more likely that it wasn't. Of course there were female recipients of Karađorđe Star with Swords like Milunka Savić (Милунка Савић) and Flora Sandes, so who knows.
    21. I don't remember seeing that medal before but it looks just like one of those Slovenian commemorative medals from the '80s. I've seen couple of medals of very similar design commemorating 40 years of Slovenian brigades and units. There are also bunch of fakes on the market so one should be careful when acquiring them.
