    1. Last but not least No.5 A F?hnrich Back total " Zur Erinnerung an die Kriegsschule 1902......name ??.....F?hnrich im 4. ????? Rgt. " Detail of his name Otto Frhr. ( Freiherr ) ?????? Any chance to get him identified ??? Thanks Kind regards Robert
    2. No. 3 Major Freiherr von Perfall Detail: Back: Could not find out much about this man, there are a lot of "von Perfall" - it was a big bavarian family of nobles, many soldiers. So, which one is he ? .............
    3. No.2 Rittmeister von Stetten Detail: Back Max von Stetten ( 1860 - 1925 ) From 1894 - 1896 he was commander of the Schutztruppe Kamerun. ...............
    4. Today I got a few very nice photos of bavarian officers, fleamarket find as usual. I show these for Your joy, but also any additional infos are most welcome, as always. No.1 Shows Bavarian General der Kavallerie von Nagel ( 1850 - 1922 ) Full name was Heinrich Freiherr von Nagel zu Aichberg. Detail of decorations: Back of the photo: ...............................
    5. Nice photo. I don't know him, but the name in the dedication is a first-name - Gottfried. " Herzliche Gr?sse Euch allen, Euer Gottfried " Robert
    6. Mystery revealed !!! Sorry for the confusion. The photo of the Freikorps man was fixed to an older postcard, maybe to stiffen it. Coincidentaly it is an Easter Greetings Card, so ----- Happy Easter to all of You. Robert
    7. Unfortunately not, Rick. If those people back then would have known that their photos are subject to a discussion 100 years later, they would have written explanations on their photos, they should have done. For them, everything was clear. If he was a knight of the Equestrian Order ..., maybe the number on the armband would be leading to his name, if ( and that's a big IF ) there is anywhere on this world a list of names and numbers of these knights. Anyway, it is already much more information as I expected. Thank You all. Robert
    8. ...... the handwritten date in the text: Although the 6 is not clear to see, you can see how he made the 9 in 1916, and if it would be 1919 there should be a similar 9 at the end. Besides that, it matches with the post stamp. 21.4.1916 - written the day before he carried the card to the post office. Of course I have no doubt about Your identification of this Freikorps man, but I am thinking how there can be a wrong date on this card. Don't know. Kind regards Robert
    9. Mysterious. That's the back of the photo: And this is the post stamp: The date is to read like this 22 APR von 9-10 16. 22nd of April, between 9 and 10 o'clock, (19)16 ................
    10. Found this photo on a fleamarket today (what else) . The photo is dated 1916, so he can not be from a Freikorps. However I am wondering about the Totenkopf on his cap and the strange collar insignia. It is not a typical cavalry uniform either. What do You think ? Kind regards Robert
    11. I do not have any ideas who or what he is: The photo is in fact a print, not a real photo. The signature is real, done with ink. His last name is very likely "Jung". The axe makes me think he is Fire-Defense. But the Spike-Helmet looks military. A Kaiserreich official and somehow related to Firefighters ??? Many questions, as always. ( Oh, how easy are those 3rd Reich uniforms ) Kind regards Robert
    12. Is he an Austrian Navy Officer ? There seems to be a Navy Hat on the table. Photo was made in Vienna. Not dated. As always, any infos are welcome. Kind regards Robert
    13. Could this be a civilian medical helper, " Helfer im Sanit?tsdienst " or is he a civilian member of the Red Cross ? He also wears two badges with the Red Cross, but I haven't seen them so far. The photo is of austrian origin, made in Wels. And I think it was made well before the 1st WW, maybe around 1900. As always, any comments and infos are most welcome. Kind regards Robert
    14. Here is a photo of Alfred Sticht, a pilot in the KG 53 "Legion Condor" To give You a bit of inspiration, here is a hand-colorized photo, made by a period photographer. It is a larger size photo, made to hang it on a wall. I think this is a good example how colorization was done before the computer age. Alex, keep up Your excellent work. This thread is one of the most interesting ones here, so speaks a photo-collector. Kind regards Robert
    15. It is Erich Bey, no doubt. I have a photo which could be made the same day, same secene as Yours, Christer As far as I know, these photos were made in November 1942, when the german navy made a raid against the british convoy PQ 17. The name of the raid was " Unternehmen R?sselsprung". Kind regards Robert
    16. Hello Ivan, You are welcome. This Club is a fountain of good information and interesting threads. Enjoy it. Kind regards Robert

    18. Thank You Kevin, good information. Now I can tell my workmate something. Kind regards Robert
    19. This is a photo from a workmate of mine. He is doing some research on his ancestors and asked me to find out something about the man on the photo. He is Austro-Hungarian, right ?? What about the collar insignia ? Sorry for the bad quality, but he only had a reprint of the original photo for me to scan. All infos are most welcome. Thanks in advance. Robert
    20. There is a dedication on the back in german: 1.9.1924 Zur freundlichen Erinnerung an die sch?nen Tage (n) von Rico ........ ??? Italian ? French ? A General ? His name ? Any infos are highly appreciated as always Robert
