Hi Bill, I think you're right! To much strain can cause the ball to break. Impossible to fit the ring without damaging the back side of the ball. Cheers, GM1

There are no signs of sawing. I think it just is a manufacturing failure. Any one else with such a problem? Thanks! GM1

Some close-ups from the "broken" ball suspension: Apparently there are some rest of welding there? Any opinion more than welcome! Best regards, GM1

Hi Rob, I post another picture: It the ball is definitely not closed, but it doesn't seem to be a crack. It look that it never has been closed at all. A manufacturing error? I don't know. Any explanation is more than welcome! Best regards, GM1

Also notice the difference in the border at the back. The R-marks are clearly visible.

Definitely a non-official award. Maybe from an association of holders of the War Cross? GM1

Hi Lambert: The Red Cross is not allowed on the Victory Medal, but indeed can be worn on the Conmemorative Medal of the War 1914-1918. Best regards, GM1

Thanks a lot Paul for your information! If awarded to participants of the African Campaign, this means that the number of medals is rather scarce also? I´m very happy that they have ended up in my collection . Best regards, GM1

Hi there: I have the following table medals, but I can´t find any information about them. There is a silver and a bronze version. Both a signed Fr. Huygelen and the silver one has Fonson stamped. Diameter is 90mm and weight about 450 g each. Any information is more than welcome! The adverse holds the inscription 1914 CONGO 1918
