    1. It?s certainly a unique item, Chris. Being so different from those issued to units serving on the North African front must surely indicate that it?s most likely a private purchase piece. Unlike most cuff titles, being considered honour awards, this early title had some stringent regulations attached to it. It could only be worn by unit members when stationed in Africa or on leave in Germany. If an individual was transferred out of Africa, or the unit left Africa, the title could no longer be worn. Now, I wonder if, after leaving Africa, the titles had to be returned to stores along with the tropical uniform. If so, perhaps the owner of the one you show decided to have one made as a remembrance of his Africa service. This would explain why it is so different from the standard type.
    2. Looks like a good one to me, Micha. Any chance of an angled shot of the catch? Just to make sure that it?s not repaired. There?s still no definitive evidence pointing to a maker of these badges, although I lean toward ?Adolf Scholze, Grunwald?. I?m sure Marc (Flak88) will be able to tell us a little more and update us on other possible makers as he?s heavily involved in a research project on the ?Flak? and flak badges. In the meantime, here?s one for comparison.
    3. On digging through ye olde storage box, I came across this piece which I thought may be of interest to you HJ/JM collectors. For the summer uniform, this is the rank badge for a Gruppenf?hrerin of the ?JM? which was worn on the left breast pocket.
    4. Excellent, Stijn. I hoped you would see the thread That will teach me to do searches! @Scott, That's a very clean set of cloth you have there.
    5. "2-Which Pilot Badge he received ? Bronze,Silver,Gold??" Hi Alexandre, I take it that, by the above, you're referring to his operational flight clasp? Going on the info supplied by Darrell, I think we can safely assume that with over 600 missions 'M?ller' would have held the Gold clasp with numbered pendant.
    6. I?ve been asked if there?s such a thing as a ?C? grade certificate glider proficiency badge with an oak leaf wreath, and if there is, what the qualification requirements for this level were. According to source material the badge was referred to as the ?Silver ?C? Certificate? but the exact qualifications are unknown. Going on the qualifications for the ?A?, ?B?, and ?C? certificates; ?A? (single gull) 30 second solo free flight without manoeuvres. ?B? (two gulls) 60 second solo flight with ?S? turn manoeuvre. ?C? (three gulls) five minute solo flight, plus an oral examination. This level drew a distinction between gliding and soaring. I can only think that the ?Silver ?C? Certificate? would be along the same lines, but for flights of a longer duration. If anyone has anything further on this particular ?C? certificate level, the information would be much appreciated. In the meantime, here are the ?A-C? level badges with the mini (marked B.H Mayer- Pforzheim) in ?925? silver for the ?Silver ?C? Certificate?.
    7. Hi James, Having done a quick search, as you do..I came up with this example by the same maker. Not much help, I know but the style may help in at least giving you a country of origin. It's described as an Artillery sword. No maker mentioned. [attachmentid=61042] [attachmentid=61043] [attachmentid=61044]
