Hi Ed, I fully concur, but, how anybody in such a business could translate: LOUIS PHILIPPE ROI DES FRANCAIS as Romanian is beyond even a non-French speaker like me Kevin in Deva

With regards Liverpool medals, they are currently showing this item: L14668 at 35 Pounds. Under the description of a 1941 Romanian Anti-Partisan Medal http://www.liverpoolmedals.com/FMPro?-db=l...t2.htm&-new as also with this piece: L14712 at 35 Pounds. A common Crusade Against Communisum 1941 Medal http://www.liverpoolmedals.com/FMPro?-db=l...t2.htm&-new As far as I am aware there was no specific Anti-Partisan Insignia for the Romanians. Austria-Hungary Austria-Hungary-Prussia-Turkey Ribbon bar.
Kev in Deva replied to Kev in Deva's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
Hallo Dave & Rick, thanks to both of you for your input, you are of course quite right with regards the device being a combatant, I must admit I had to enlarge it before I noticed the bayonets to the rear of the helmet (wheres me guide dog!!). My id of the ribbons was from: RIBBONS OF ORDERS AND DECORATIONS OF THE WORLD at: http://www.medals.lava.pl/index.htm This one is shown as: Hungary Ww1 Com without swords and Helmet 1929. This one is shown as: Bulgaria WW1 Non-Combatant (1929). This one is shown as: Bulgaria, Non-Com in the Turkish War. (1933). With regards the bar, the ribbons all seem to have the same amount of fading which might mean they have been together for a while or the maker is intelligent enough to source very similar items for his construction. Ribbons 1 & 3 on the bar, look very similar despite the colour on the first being a little brighter, the width of the bands seemingly larger on the first, could it be a WW2 era make ? Hallo Noor, the medal bar to my eye is for just 4 medals, I think that each ribbon is represented by two pieces of ribbon: 2 X Prussian EK 1914 Ribbon, 2 X W?rttemberg Military Merit Medal Ribbon, 2 X Hindenberg Cross of Honour for Combatants Ribbon, 2 X W?rttemberg Military Service Medal (9 years) Ribbon. With time, (and this bar can be dated to circa 1934 onwards by the Hindenberg,) the ribbons have moved slightly. Kevin in Deva

Hallo Tony Great thread, just think of Private Frederick Percy Spencer, he is gone, but he is no longer forgotten with your great research. Now there is a tangible link, to show he exsisted, and he made the ultimate sacrifice, may he and his comrades and all those listed as Missing in the Great War on both sides, Rest In Peace. Hallo Ed, many thanks for the info, could we assume with all the non-combatant ribbons a medical person would have been the owner?? Seeing service with the Bulgarians in 1912 - 1913 through to WW2?? Kevin in Deva. -

Hallo Christian, Tentative identification of the ribbons: 1. Hungarian Commemorative WW1 Non-Com ribbon. 2. National Defence Cross, issued in 1940 (for acts circa 1920 ) 3. Faded version of Number 1 with Non Combatant mini (?) 4. Commemorative re-occupation of Transylvania, (1938). 5. Commemoratibe re-occupation upper Hungary, (1940). 6. Bulgaria - Turkish War of 1912-13 Non-Combatant, (1930). 7. Unknown for the moment. 8. Unknown for the moment 9. German, Wemarer Republic, Un-official German Legion of Honour, Veterans Medal. 10. Turkish (?) Comments & Corrections welcome!! Kevin in Deva. -
Hallo Brian I cannot recall ever seeing a H. K. H. of any type with an impressed inscription, if done, it was done privately and as the Crosses were issued circa 1934 onwards most carried some type of a maker mark on various locations of the cross rear, I believe the real early pieces were issued in bronze and as the war progressed the material was changed. With regards age: The Cross was being made I believe up to about 30 years ago, and before these I think over 6 and a half million Combatant types were issued upon application, the later German Republic issue as replacements to German veterans, carried no Maker mark to the rear, therefore leaving a clean surface to take a struck "inscription". I have even seen screwback versions of the H.C.H. on Ebay for sale!! Kevin in Deva
