    1. Hallo Rast many thanks for the additional info. Two other stone tablets with military units inscribed are mounted on the walls of the Residenze, near the Kaufhoff Store. Please see: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12280 Kevin in Deva.
    2. Alex your's would more correctly translate as "Honour Cross for Parents", Elten = Elders, a widow was a "Witwe" in German. I have heard it commonly refered to as the "Honour Cross for those left behind." Kevin in Deva.
    3. Available in 3 sizes, Grosse, Prinzen und Mini, for a limited time only Kevin in Deva

    6. Another military related plaque on the wall of a building that is now the Alpine Museum, near the Residensehoff, in Kempten, which was formely the Calvary quarters, with stables for the horses beneath. Kevin in Deva.
    7. My buddy Alec, brought me around some of the small Kempten back streets, in Haubenschloss, to show me a plaque he had spotted upon the wall of a house near Haubenschloss. Apparantly post WW1, the street used to be called Wytschaetestrasse!! "Wytschaetestrasse 2, In der Allerheiligennacht 1914 st?rmen die Allg?uer Kriegsfreiwilligen dreimal Wytschaete in Flandern." Does anybody have any information of the particular Bavarian Units that took part in the campaign in far off Flanders? Kevin in Deva.
    8. Hallo Gents, upon my recent return visit to Kempten in the Allg?u region, I revisited a place I stumbled across near to the house where I was living, I lived for 4 years on the outskirts of Kempten, on Adelharzer Weg, while wandering in the woods to the rear of the house I discovered this commemorative memorial stone. The inscription reads: "GEDENKSTEIN FUR DEM IM WELTKREIGE GEFALLENEN HELDEN MAX HERGENRODER FORSTASSISTENT IN KEMPTEN + 26.SEPT.1914.WYTSCHAEDE." Kevin in Deva
    9. Hallo Leigh & Mike, thanks for the contributions with regard Pioneer Farrell. Kevin in Deva
    10. Hallo Uwe thanks for your answer, do any of these rate any particular value or rarity? The boxed ones appear to have their original boxes and most are in mint to VG condition. They are actually outside my normal field of military medal collecting. Kevin in Deva.
    11. Hallo --dj--Joe Not wanting to wander to far off the subject in question,I am still inclined to think this item has connections with the Freemasons, the handshake symbol appears on many French medals and badges attributed to Charity work carried out by the Freemasons in France. The symbol pictured below, I understand is more often encounted when thinking of the Freemasons, this one's on a building in Kempten in the Allg?u region of Bavaria. Perhaps some of our French / German members could shed some light onto this insignia with the handshake?? Kevin in Deva.
    12. Excuse me. Just had to change it, I was getting a pain in the neck looking at it posted your way Kevin in Deva.
    13. Hallo Robert this particular piece, which my Buddy obtained, was picked up at a flea-market in Senden, Baden-W?rttemberg, the seller said it came from a family house-clearence in AUGSBURG, Bavaria which is not to far away geographically from Senden, its possible my iii reich 2 Medal Dienst-Spange and Swastika Armband (posted seperately) came from the same family. 14. Greetings and welcome, from the Anglo-Irish, Transylvanian residing member of the club I am sure you will have a nice time here, regarding your small illness try Garlic, my Romanian wife swears by it to cure all known ills Kevin in Deva
    15. Nice story, but its a pity they could not even get the caption for the picture right That Tank and has no connection to WW2. Kevin in Deva
    16. Hallo Pete If I may be so bold to venture my opinion with regards the white edges, the armband appears to be cotton, I think at first the red was silk-screened onto the material, followed by the white circle, then black swastika, the rough edges were turned over and sewn to form a neat edge, and then it was machine joined in the middle, with a zig-zag stich. The armband measures: Height 10,5 cm X 54 cm diameter, the inner seam is 12mm in size, the diameter of the circle is 83mm. The outside edge of the swastika arms is 30mm, the inside edge is 20mm.The material shows signs of being held in place on the sleeve by pinning, there is also some well rubbed in grime consistent with the item being worn and in contact with the body of a jacket or shirt. I will not be tempted to wash it Kevin in Deva
    17. If the natural light is right tomorrow I will attempt to get a better picture of the belt buckle, which might help identify the pioneer / soldier for sure, as it is there is to much glare on the picture from my desk light. Kevin in Deva.
    18. Gentlemen, many thanks for your time and information Seems sometime theres real treasure in them thar Floh-markts Kevin in Deva.
    19. I am using my digital camera I will try for a better picture. But is it reasonable to think a W?rttemberger could get a Bavarian MVK III Class in WW1?? Kevin in Deva
