    1. Hello Paul, Robert, Many thanks for the information. Regards Alec
    2. Hello All, Can anyone help me out with this. I was wondering, what the criteria was for earning the close combat badge in Gold - Silver - Bronze. To earn the gold badge, a soldiers perfomance must probably out-strip, that of a ritter kreuz winner, which on my understanding was awarded for one act of outstanding bravery, as against many acts of bravery for gold badge. Any information is welcome. Regards
    3. Great to see some quality pieces from Kevin. Taking a leaf out of his book. Yesterday I took a stroll down to my local fleamarket in Kempten, Bavaria and turned up some WW2 militaria. A Panzer Assault Badge - 4 Tinnies - square WW1 Lundendorf spende tinnie - a Munich exhibition tinnie - and 2 (I think ) gymnasitic tinnies, although they do have the Sonnen - rad symbol on them, which i've seen on the end of grip of luftwaffe daggers. Any explaination of the symbol would be welcome. Finally a mint condition virgin Photoalbum (no photos) from 2nd Company Gebirges Artillery Regiment 79 from Garmish - Parkenkirchen. A dream day down the market, unfortunately all too rare, I'm expecting quite a few blank days. But do take a look. Regards Alec

    6. Hello Gents, I picked up these tinnies last week. A couple are self explanatory, but any extra information on these and the others would be appreciated. The top left tinnie 32mm diameter Hitler Youth year date 1938, more I don't know. The top middle tinnie 28mm x 48mm also Hitler Youth appears to the be connected to a sports day of the German Arbeits Front round the edge has the inscription "Reichs-Beruf - Wettkampf der Deutscher Jugend". The top right tinnie relates to the Saarland returning to the German Reich in 1935. The bottom left tinnie 26mm x 40mm is unknown to me, could be Winter Hilfes Werk - Saar (Saarland). The bottom right 25mm x 42mm another mystery has the script N.S. - Volks - Wohlfahrt -- Gau Sachsen = N.S folks Charity area Sachsen. Any further information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
    7. Hello, Rather late in the day I've included a scan of the wehrpass page. Regards

    10. Hello Gents, Could anyone help me out with this small (2cm x 2cm) Lenin screw back badge. I've been trying to determine its purpose, a friend suggest its - (Komsomol) "Communist Youth for military heroism" about 1944, but he's not certain. I would be grateful if anyone has any information and could let me know. Regards
    11. Hello J. Noble, Thanks for the information, much appreciated - the police day celebrations does faintly have the year date 1942. Hope you don't think I'm cheeky, but you wouldn't happen to know which year dates fit the the two Wehrmacht day badges, it doesn't matter if you don't. Again many thanks for the help. Regards Alec [
    12. Hello Gents, Bought a bundle of Third Reich tinnies / Badges last weekend. I've managed to identify 14 pieces, but the four pieces in the photo have defeated me. The top two in the picture are metal with pin and clasp, left one has H2, the right one has H9 on their backs. The bottom left is yellow plastic / bakalite with a gold coloured coating complete with pin & clasp . The script on back - "obermullern K R. Weissenfels golderateat - um 600 thuringisch". The bottom right metal has the police eagle on it on the back & G1. Any information anyone may have would be welcome. regards
    13. August 2004 - Only one living survivor from Kaiser's Forces Hello Kev, Whilst not knowing how currant the articule in the Irish Independent you quoted is ( the link provided, required that one registers for the independent ). August 2004 didn't pass unnoticed in the german press, covered by the serious broadsheets in depth, german geographical magazine devoted one whole issue to the WW1conflict. From the whole of the Kaiser's WW1 forces, they unearthed one living survivor, a frenchman, born into the newly annexted german lands following the prussian victory in 1871. He fought on the Western Front. Ironically in WW2 he fought in the french army and was interned by the german forces. In 2004 he lived quietly with his daughter on the family farm in France. Towards the end of the year. he was to dine, with then chancellor Schroder, as the last living german link with WW1. Regards Alec
    14. Hi Kev, I can help you out. Location of Pershore is approx 30 miles south of Birmingham in the Vale of Eversham. Regards
    15. Hello, Whist admiring your Wehrpass and Battle Calendar in particular, I couldn't help noticing the two punched holes in the Wehrpass. My question is how much of a detreimental effect do punched holes have on the value of a pass 20%, 50% ?? I collect Wehrpasses in a small way and usually avoid passes with punched holes, but will buy passes with the scratched out swastikas on the cover. Am I too particular ? or doing the right thing by following my gut instinct ?. Regards Alec
    16. Hi, Last weekend I was offered WW1 Medal with the inscription--- 236538 GNR Edwards CFA ------on the edge. British Medals not my field---- please can any tell me what the CFA abbreviation means. Also next month I visit the U.K. hope to take in a Military Fair at the Three Countys Show Ground, Malvern on the 26th March, anyone know anything about it. Regards
    17. Hello Richard, Regarding the fourth award " Bronze ---------"? I showed two dealers separately the wehrpass picture, both can read old german script, and both quite independently came out with "Bronze Mudannia" they had no idea what it meant. Unfortunately after looking through my military reference books and cataloges, I didn't find a mention of anything remotely similar. Looking at the the picture, it does seem to be written in the wehrpass as a after - thought, not at all in the normal chronological order, a entry made two years too late. Nonetheless a very interesting and valuable wehrpass. Regards AlecH
