saschaw
Also I got this one today, a (very common) Bavarian Military merit Cross 3rd class with swards, but in Austrian mounting, and on the (damn rare) peace time ribbon(!). Have they been awarded like this, as Prussian Red Eagle Orders with swords had been awarded to foreign officers on the "statutenmäßigen Band", or is it simply a wrong put together? BTW, the cross has a maker mark "WC" (for Weiss und Co.) in the ring, and also something similar on the swords (hard to read). I know they are often on the swords, but are the marks in the ring common? Edited July 28, 2023 by saschaw
Dave Danner
It might be the case that someone, at some point, removed a rarer prewar MVO or MVK, perhaps to replace one on a medal bar, and then threw an extra MVK3x onto this ribbon.
Stogieman
The blue doesn't look quite a match to other statute ribbons I have owned and passed forward. The blue is typically much, much deeper.

Stogieman
However.... having said all this, we need to still address the tri-fold. Whilst uncommon with bavarian Orders & medals, it's not unheard of.

Guest Rick Research
It might also be a Serbian Saint Sava ribbon trifold. In any case, it is wrong on a M1913 with Xs for WW1.

saschaw
Gentlemen, I think you're right, Mr. RR made the point. Though the reverse is a little darker, it still is much to light blue for a Bavarian MVO, while Serbia seems to fit 100%. With the Bavarian cross on it, I couldn't think on anything else than Bavaria, my apologize for that.
Riley1965
saschaw,There's no need to apologise. We've all headed down a path only to find it to be different than we expected. Nothing unusual about that. Doc
