VtwinVince
Gentlemen,Has anyone read Peter Hofschroer's book "Wellington's Smallest Victory"? I found it very interesting and reinforced my notion that history has underplayed the role of the Prussians at La-Belle-Alliance.
Nick
Hofschroer likes to to be controversial in his books on Waterloo, its how he sells them and had gained his reputation. I am not convinced by some of his arguments, they make for an interesting read, but I feel he is so biased towards the Prussians that some areas needed to be treated warily. VtwinVince
You could be right, but in light of his pedigree as a historian, and the fact that 19th century England allowed Wellington practical carte blanche in promoting his version of the battle, I think he has some justification in his findings.
