I should have added that mine has a different hinge then yours, but the hinge on yours is an accepted variant in terms of hardware.

Hi Greg,your badge has the typical hardware set-up for Schwerin zinc badges.Giorgios' badge has the set-up found on Schwerin tombak badges.As for the eagle it looks like someone cut the wings off and de-nazified it.

Your thesis is rather interesting . I like the idea that someone has taken away the swastika

and has trimmed the wings of the German eagle .

The example you show is a very nice Tombak Minesweepers Badge. However, unfortunately, it's been denazified

Plus the fact that somebody grounded that bird by plucking his wing feathers ...
