Richard Gordon
Let's start with this reproduction, well I believe this to be reproduction. It has been said that orginal flight clasps in tombac (with the circular depression on the reverse) must have concentric rings. It this true or not?Rich
mmiller
Hi Rich,Well, you and I would both like to find out about these 'concentric rings'. I hope someone 'out there' can provide input about this topic.Mark
Richard Gordon
MarkLet's hope so!Here's another... concentric rings are just about visible but hard to see. Don't know if this is a result of the patina. Does the existence of these rings make this one original?Rich
mmiller
1) Is it logical to assume that, as with most all other cast reproductions, the finished size (significantly smaller) would be an indicator of a fake?2) What should the measurments of a front Flight Clasp be? Width and Height, to start with?Mark

This would only work when you are comparing like-for-like, and the maker is identified? Here's some measurements; height of wreath x span:Bomber (Juncker, tombac)25.8 x 76Fighter (OSANG, zinc)26 x 77Fighter (unmarked, tombac)25.8 x 76Bomber (unmarked, tombac)25.9 x 76Fake?25.9 x 76.

mmiller
Hi Rich,I have been waiting and watching, with disappointment. I will try to post some weights and dimensions tonight or tomorrow. I guess most people are intersted in J2s or Ground Assault Badges. Nothing wrong with that, but eventually, many collectors develop an interest in Spanges. Regards,MarkMarkIt seems no one else is interested. Pity.Rich
Scott
Unfortunately, I don't have a weight scale; but my Osang-marked, tombac bronze bomber measures:76.82mm wide (tip to tip) by 25.86mm (center wreath, top to bottom)Scott
