Fairbairn Sykes Commando Knife -

Gentlemen,

I bought this dagger in Dieppe/France.

The only information I could found comes from a friend of mine in the north of France. It is an english dagger, fabricated between 1941 and ?42 and used by the Canadian troops in Dieppe. Additionally he made the presumption that an item like this could be possibly one of the rarest commonwealth commando daggers of ww2 because they were issued just a couple of month.

Do you ever heard about this commando knife or do you have any related photos ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have always beena fairburn sykes fan, but have never seen one like this.

I also really like FS daggers.

Page 41 & 42 of Buerlein's book "Allied Military Fighting Knives" shows several examples of wood handled FS daggers. His only comment on your particular style is -- " They

were probably made late in the war. "

I like it- It's a great variation that I wouldn't mind having in my own collection.
