Tim Tezer Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Unfortunately for the buyer, these miniatures are fake. The simple fact that they are turning up so frequently on Ebay should be a good indicator of that. The style of Godet buttons that appear on them varies, as the fakers appear to be using original buttons that could have come from any type of buttonhole ribbon or miniature. The fact that it says "Godet" on the button does not make the miniature original to the period. Tim
Kev in Deva Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Tim thanks for the info, even to my un-knowing eye the quality is poorer than the GODET button thankfully while it remains that way they will be easier to spot. Can't say I feel sorry for the people who are too lazy to join a good forum and research the items before parting with their cash Kevin in Deva.
Stogieman Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It would be unusual, to say the least... for Godet to make a buttonhole mini and leave that crappy pie wedge suspension at the top. When I first saw the listing, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.... when I looked later and it was at $800... 'nough said!
Kev in Deva Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Another Pearl cast before swine! http://cgi.ebay.at/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...DME:B:FSEL:AT:1currently at; 81.00 Euro, dont ya just lurv the itty bitty swords as well. Kevin in Deva
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 O would guess it started its life as a plain ole EK2 buttonhole ribbon.... and then went on to greater things....
Steve Russell Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) In addition to the eagles, the sunken enamel was a dead give away on this fake. Both examples here appear to match the full size Spanish fakes almost to a detail except for the pie wedge. Steve Edited January 26, 2007 by Steve Russell
