Reini
Hello,I've paired these two up , so the badge was not originally issued with this case , but they make a good match.I'm looking for any opinions , good or bad , on the badge. It is so obviously well-made in hand , but I understand this eagle might be somewhat controversial.I already know what John thinks , but encourage him to weigh in , all the same. Thanks!BestKurt

J Temple-West
It looks even better in the case, Kurt. As you say, and as discussed, a piece that some will like and some will not, but still (IMO) a rather rare variant 'IMME' bird combined with a 'Juncker' 2nd pattern wreath. Steve K.
KurtI found the old thread. I would like to see a better picture of the back of the wing seen in post #9. What are the dark marks seen on the reverse of this wing?Cheers,Steve
Bob Hunter
It's nice but it will always be a badge that has to be explained.
Steve K.
Bob....Why more so than an OM badge?
Bob Hunter
Not a case of more so or less so, Steve. It is an interesting varient that will always have believers and disbelievers and that is why it will require an explanation. It just doesn't fall into the category of "classic example." Steve K.
BobI have to disagree with you. This style of badge has been linked through a family member to a known pilot during the war, and has been evaluated by experienced collectors. For me, it falls into the realm of 'original beyond a reasonable doubt'. Kindest Regards,Steve
Reini
Steve,I will add some photos soon of the back of that wing. I don't have the badge here right now , but I seem to remember those marks being 'tick' marks , perhaps made by contact with something like a pin or needle. I'll try to give a better description when I post the photos.BestKurt
Reini
Here is a shot of that area. Under magnification , one can see it is somewhat porous. Sometimes , dirt or dust can cause this when metal is struck into coins and such.BestKurt Edited February 2, 2006 by Reini
Steve K.
KurtThank you...much better picture to see that those marks aren't casting bubbles.I have no problem with this bird.....truely a rare one as it is only the 3rd I've seen!!! Reini
Thanks! It's good to have another in the plus column. This is one of my favorite badges. Hopefully , I can add a first pattern someday.BestKurt
