Herr General Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Hallo Gents With regards Lebanese medals this one is turning up on Irish Medal bars belonging to UNIFIL veterans, all though I expect its unofficial and wont be found on a serving Irish soldiers medal bar. LEBANESE ARMY MILITARY MERIT, III CLASSKevin in Deva. This medal (wissam es salaam) is turning up in Dutch medal groups also!
Kev in Deva Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Apparently, what has happened with regards this medal is that, an Irish U.N. Veterans of Lebanongroup, claim have received permission to obtain these medals from Lebanon, the story says part of the price for the medal,(I was quoted 86 Euro) goes to a wounded Lebanese Soldiers Fund!!There is some controversial debate as to if that is actually happening. The medal is not recognised as an official award by the Irish Military, so there cannot be worn on the service uniform.Kevin in Deva.

josemann57 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Hi I would like to add here that today there are many restrikes of the Lebanese medals characterized of being of less quality and lower contrast of the original details. You may observe the last medal shown by Kev (Merit Medal 4th grade) and comapre it with the 2nd grade shown by Dave. Completely different hat wear (observe well) and loosing the signature by G. Qorum. Unfortunately, there are many grades of quality to the restrikes especially the latest for the Air Force and the Navy medals. One should be careful about the prices when buying. Regards
josemann57 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hi The medal posted by Gro is a restrike with wrong ribbon. (Medal of competence)
gro Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Let's refresh :-) the topic a little bit..... National Order of the Cedar, Officer
