JBeltram Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Hello folks,This fake dates back to the late 60's early 70's. It is a classic, that us kids we used to play war with. BTW, the fake ribbon for this award does not glow. Regards, Jody
Laurence Strong Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 And the 30/40year patina on it makes it real scary. Did it come from Delta International?
JBeltram Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 And the 30/40year patina on it makes it real scary. Did it come from Delta International?Hi Laurence,I think it was ordered from the back of a comic book (SGT. Rock).Regards, Jody
Alex K Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Hi Got one, had the identical oaks n swords also, lost them however, paid ?10 ukp for it, and thought I'd got a genuine RK bargain as well Just goes to showregardsAlex
Alex K Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 A couple moreThe one with OLS is a three piece construction, the OLS are HAND ENGRAVED on the reverse with I think L/16 or something like that, the other one is a one piece, but die stamped not cast, looks quite good also, to those who are not familiar with RK's being three piece could in a few years of patination be dangerous.BTW the ribbon for the one with OLS is actually to the one piece I posted before this.regardsAlex
Paul R Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Can these be bought as repros at a decent price? They would be great for decorating a tunic!Paul
Alex K Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Paul, repro RK's are ten a penny, the solid die stamped piece I posted, which with a bit of natural ageing will look quite acceptible (heaven forbid!!) but will not fool the serious researcher, and costs anything from about $20 upwards mine cost about $60 and looks Ok purely as a display item. I have to add that copies if thats what they are meant to be, are not a problem, it's the people who make copies that are trying to fool people into thinking that they are original pieces that make this area medal collecting a minefield.this site makes repros of various quality, but looking at the RK's shown they are clearly not original.http://www.thirdreich.ca/museumcopies.phpBTW they are not in my and other posters on this forum made from original diesregardsAlex Edited April 22, 2007 by Alex K
Paul R Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Wow!! Those prices are a bit steep, for a repro. Thank you for the link!! It in itself is a good reference! The Iron Crosses are very scary looking! They cost almost as much as the originals!PAul
Alex K Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Hi Paul, there are cheaper versions out there, the prices on that site are on the higher sideregardsAlex
