Why so late?

In the 2nd Batln RIR31 in March 1916....

Major Freiherr von B??ow gets a lowly EK2.

1) Why so late????

2) Anyone know who he is/was ?

OK, the EK 2 award doc is signed in March 1916.... very late for a major to get an EK2

In the regt history he gets the EK1 in 1915.

I am 100% sure he got the EK2 in 1914, he commanded a Batln in some hot spots... no way he had to wait so long for an EK2.

Just goes to show the dates for the signing of an EK 2 doc often have nooooothing to do with the award date.

Anyone know his first name and pedigree?

Hi Chris,

I would guess Adolf Frhr.v.B?low, born 1870, died 1944, 1914 Major in IR 31, retired as LtCol from IR 159.

Other awards: Red Eagle 4, Saxon Albert knight 2nd class, Weimar falcon knight 1st class where he got the swords to the cross as only other WW1 award I know at the moment.

21st of September 1914 for his EK award (according to the Regt history), the doc done in mid 1916.
