Bryan Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Show your Yugoslavian cap badges. I only have one.Yougoslavian Officer cap badgeIKOM Zagreb
Drugo Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Cap badge of the VJ (Vojska Jugoslavije, Yugoslav Army). This means it was adopted after the collapse of the old Yugoslavia, by the new one (Serbia and Montengro), after war broke out. It's been in use for 6 months, than changed again.Filip
Drugo Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Titovka (side cap) with red star, marked "IKOM" ZAGREB. It should be a dated model.Filip

Bryan Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 So Christian do you dress-up sometimes like a Yugoslavian Partisan or did you made some kind of reenactment.
Christian Zulus Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 So Christian do you dress-up sometimes like a Yugoslavian Partisan or did you made some kind of reenactment. Dear Bryan,no, it just happend by accident .A year ago I had a professional photographer as a guest, showed him around and he was impressed by the medals and also by the "heroic" photographs of the bearers in the PMD-bible and in other books. The weather was excellent, he had an b/w-film in the camera and asked me, if he can make some photographs with me & the medals on - also in a somehow "heroic" style like on the old photographs. The result had been the YU-Commissar-photograph and this other one. A little bit in this thread, because it doesn't show a YU-cap . It shows me as a Soviet "Hero of Socialist Labour" and I use that photograph - without the HSL - for commercial purposes also, because it got really excellent:Best regards Christian
Drugo Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Hmm, nice one Christian, but... I think I saw you somewhere! Oh, yes! It was in the "Battle of Neretva", when you're shooting at the germans near the river!

It was in the "Battle of Neretva", when you're shooting at the germans near the river! Dear Filip, sorry, I had been far too young to play in that great movie .Best regards ChristianBTW: I have the "Battle of Neretva" only on VHS-video. Does a DVD exist with german/english language options ?
Bryan Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Hehehe ... thanks for the explanation Christian. I was just curious to know what you were doing with your communist goodies on yourself.
Drugo Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Dear Christian, the DVD version of the Neretva is rare, but not impossible to find. On eBay there are mostly two versions of the DVD circulating, the American and the Spanish one. I remember a few months ago there were several copies on ebay.com, at the moment, the only one I could find was this:Item number: 280098851387It's the Spanish one, but it's in English too. Hope this helps.

The badge had been the same to commissars and officers of the YU-Elite-Forces in WW II.Hello Christian! I have a question for you. Was this hat badge given to officers after war in JNA also or just between WW2? What about the basic one, without the hammer & sickle? Thanks alot!
Drugo Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Dear Filip, many thanks for the information .At least it should be the US-version ...Is there no Serbian-DVD with English sub-titles ?Best regards ChristianI never heard of a Serbian edition.
Explorer Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I'd like to add something to my previous question to Christian. I went to check in the book YUGOSLAVIA INSIGNIA AND DECORATIONS and there it says that the star you have in your collection (with hammer and stickle) was given to elite troops officers in yugoslav people's army and not during the WW2.

Christian Zulus Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Commissar's / Elite Forces' Cap BadgeGentlemen, that's true, that the booklet mentioned that badge only for the JNA Elite Forces. But the old veteran from the flea market in Belgrade at the Kalemegdan next to the Military Museum, where I bought the badge, insisted, that he got the badge from an former Polit Commissar of the JNA.The badge of the Soviet Polit Commissars was also a Red Star with a Hammer & Sickle. So my theory was, that the old veteran might be right .Of course, the badge is IKOM ZAGREB, but it looks older, than all other I have seen - 1940s to 1950s ?The diameter is about 3 centimeters or 1,3 inches. It has a massive and long screwpost in the middle. Red Star is firmly fixed with cooper wire to the Silver Star. The screwplate is differnt to the modern ones and shows at the av. only IKOM ZAGREB. The enamel is of very good quality.I took the badge off the cap and made some scans for you - sorry, I have only a flat-bed-scanner .Best regards Christian
Christian Zulus Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Commissar's / Elite Forces' Cap Badge - screwplate
Christian Zulus Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) Gentlemen,I found that - more modern - cap badge, which is offered in the internet for USD 40,- (!) as a cap badge to the Elite Forces:Screwplate is different, but IKOM ZAGREB.Best regards Christian Edited April 2, 2007 by Christian Zulus
Explorer Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 That unfortunetly still doesn't proove that your type was used during WW2. I'll try to figure it out.
