Gordon Craig Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 (edited) Gents,The latest adition to my collection of DDR General Officers uniforms. After a week of effort searching the main post office I ended up at Hungarian Customs yesterday to pick up the actual parcel. It was worth the effort. The uniform is comprised of a Generals ooficers Jack shirt and tie, tunic (complete with awards), trouser, and peaked cap. I'll post pictures of the shirt first. There are special thin shoulder boards and this rank stars for these boards, to make wear under the tunic more comfortable, which did not come with the uniform. Edited April 19, 2007 by Gordon Craig
Gordon Craig Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Awards and Russian Akademy badges above the right breast pocket.
Gordon Craig Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 The trousers. The first picture will be of the top of the trousers. Note where the stripes on the outside of the leg stop.
Gordon Craig Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 The interior of the cuff of the trousers. This gives a good view of how the thin and thick stripes are added. This was the way it was done for Generals officers during the Third Reich and the DDR continued this practice.
Gordon Craig Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Side view of the generals peaked cap.
Gordon Craig Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Interior of the General Officers caps. All General's tunics were tailor made but their caps were not.

Guest Rick Research Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Is it possible to trace who the original owner was, from the branch and rank?
Paul R Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I love the set!! One of the better ones I have seen!
Gordon Craig Posted April 22, 2007 Author Posted April 22, 2007 Gents,I doubt very much is this set could be traced. Something for the future though. I do have a list OF BG Generals so perhaps in time I sould work it out.Regards,Gordon
Gordon Craig Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 Olivier,Interesting uniform. Thanks for posting it. Unusual to see an NVA General officer not wearing a Russian Academy badge. I have a picture of Admiral Waldemar Verner, Stellvettreter des Ministers und Chef der Politischen Hauptwerwaltung from 1959 to 1978, wearing an NVA Akademie badge and no Russian one so it could happen but rarely. Regards,Gordon
olivyaya Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Thanks ! Yes you are right... maybe because he was appointed general vey late (1982) !!!Btw, is the sleeve lining also striped on your uniform ??
