coldstream Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) I have had this photograph in my collection for some time and have so far been unable to identify the headress being worn. It would appear to be third reich era from the breast eagles being worn althougth at least one of the men in the image appears to be wearing a plain tunic. The caps would appear to be black in colour and have some form of cockade on them. Unfortunately the back of the photograph is plain and was on its own when purchased so i have been unable to positively identify arm of service or unit. Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated gentlemen.OOPS sorry i ve not got the hang of this yet as a new member. I will try to sort out the images and upload them soonest Edited May 10, 2007 by coldstream

coldstream Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Photo very small, but it is very similar to people from Russian Liberation army. Thanks for that, its an avenue of research i hadnt considered. I ll check my reference books. The only thing is their insignia appears to be fairly standard German.
Sergey Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Confuse cocardes on peak-caps. However I do the assumption in the reason of a small photo.
Guest Rick Research Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 The dark caps and dark pants (probably dark green) with concealed button tunics could indicate some sort of transitional wear as the Weimar era Landespolizei were absorbed into the Wehrmacht. The dark straps with pips would also fit with junior Police ranks. As state forces, there is no other insignia on the caps-- yet. But too small and blurry to be sure. A nice crisp clear single person portrait might even be able to tell WHICH state these policemen came from. For comparison, here are Prussian urban ("Gr?n") policemen at Christmas 1925 standing out by the fire alarm door of their precinct:All that has changed are their army style tabs (an indication of their transitional status) and army breast eagels in the circa 1934 photos above. Policemen who REMAINED in the police did not change to the LaPo type insignia of the Happy Campers above.
