Bryan Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) I'm not sure for the exact English transliteration, but it would be Ivan Sergueivitch Gladun Edited May 16, 2007 by Soviet
Ferdinand Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) More correctly it would be 'Sergeyevich'. The doc in post # 10 is related to the Veteran of Labor Medal. He received his 100 Years of Lenin on 20 April 1970, the Badge of Honor on 5 April 1971, the Veteran of Labor on 10 December 1985 and the 1975 Badge on 16 January 1976. Guest Rick Research Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 The Civil Engineer badge with the oddly cartoonish reverse is the Ukrainian SSR issue. Both his Veteran of Labor Medal and 1970 Lenin Jubilee Medal were issued by Cherkassky Province issuing authority. His 1973 was as Senior Worker of/at (?) "SMU-27," of the Industrial Trust "Cherkasskhimstroi" as a member of the Professionals Union. His 1975 is again from Professional Union Workers, in area of Construction and .... Materials. The booklet in #10 and #11 is Veteran Of Labor BADGE (not in group?) from the Ukrainian SSR Ministry of Large Scale Construction, for his service at the Trust and Combine "Cherkasskhimstroi."The newspaper clipping is in UKRAINIAN, which while I can read the sort of words found on documents like the above, I have no grammatical or "conversational" knowledge of. The only text which appears to refer to him seems to be the block at lower right of his photo.Zoom in on that and will give it a shot.
Guest Rick Research Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Aha! The newspaper is that of the "Cherkasskhimstroi" trust, called "Na Budovi" ("For Construction") and is the issue of 27 June 1975:"For 12 years senior executive worker I. S. Gladun, who you see at top, has been employed in Construction And Assembly Directorate No. 27 of our trust. In this time, Ivan Sergeevich has boldly and directly participated in the erection of all the highest industrial objectives of the greatest (chemicals??????) in Cherkassk. For merit in gathering construction and the greatest production, I. S. Gladun has clearly been notable, so as of the 1st of June he was rewarded with the title called "MERITORIOUS BUILDER OF THE UkSSR.Sincere congratulations to you, Ivan Sergeevich, upon this high labor distinction!"So THAT'S the little "cartoon" badge.
