paul w Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Hello guys,I recently aquired this badge. The weight and measurements are pretty much spot on,the only thing that concerns me is that the hardware on the back is non magnetic. Is that correct for this maker? All the best,Paul
Gordon Williamson Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Don't worry about the pin. Its a good original piece. They are faking these French made pieces, but the pin/hinge fittings aren't quite right. This one is spot on.
GRIKICH Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 3.It's a good one with the typical pin, i've one too.the french bacqueville produced the six different marine badge.

PKeating Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 They didn't make one. Nor did they make the Minesweeper Badge. They made the following:Destroyer BadgeHigh Seas Fleet BadgeAuxiliary Cruiser BadgeU-Boat BadgeE-Boat BadgeCoastal Artillery BadgeThey also produced buttons, summer tunic eagles and other bits and pieces.PK

PKeating Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 (edited) Exactly! But one of the problems is that the guys who found them or who brokered them to dealers in Paris and London seem to have repainted a lot of the badges with the kind of gold paint used on picture frames. PKeating Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 This finish looks new but appears to be original. If you looks at the previous two badges, you can see that someone appears to have painted the wreaths carelessly. I suppose it was the dealer's assistant, trying to finish dozens of badges before going home!PK
PKeating Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 But here's an indisputably untouched Bacqueville E-Boat Badge with a nice age patina, pictured with a Schwerin 1st pattern badge and an Adolf Scholtz 2nd pattern badge. PK
