However I do not see his CHHGL1 listed. I did expect him to be the Prinz Georg von Preussen who got it in 1853, as there are no other prussian princes with first name Georg around that time as far as I can see...

I think by this time, it would be mentioned as the HG1? Because from 1876 onwards, the Grandduke of Hessen and the Rhine awarded the Houseorder as his own. Am I right there?

The HG1 is the Hannoverian Guelphen-Orden. The HL1 is the Gro?herzoglich Hess. Ludewigs-Orden.
